SUMMARY

The Senior Principal R&D Engineer identifies new opportunities and leads the design and development of innovative solutions. In this role, the Senior Principal R&D Engineer will act as a top technical reference, working closely with customers, partners, application engineers, and multiple development teams to define and deploy major new products and capabilities.

This engineer will join the RedHawk-SC Research and Development team that creates state of the art software for semiconductor analysis.RedHawk-SC uses a powerful purpose-built platform that enables distributed big-data analytics for advanced system-on-chip designs.

RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Leads the planning, architecture or research across multiple projects or disciplines. Sets the direction for major technical or research initiatives and projects

  • Coordinates product design and development activities requiring extensive analysis in areas such as user experience, software design and solver research. Acts as a technical reference across groups or products andanalyzes new and emerging technologies and methods for creating leading-edge products and solutions

  • Leads the organization in depth and breadth of technical knowledge and ability.Defines, develops, and employs best practices and maintains them through technical reviews and mentoring

  • Researches and understands the marketing requirements for products, including target environment, performance criteria and competitive issues. Works with strategic customers or proxies to assess needs and develop solutions. Disseminates information about opportunities to development leaders and senior management

  • Operates without direct supervision and functions as a high-level team leader, project manager, or software architect

  • May be responsible for line managementof one or more technical teams

  • Develops novel algorithms and solid software implementations

  • Delivers code that meets requirements on schedule. Ensures that code is efficient, scalable, maintainable, extensible, robust, and easy to understand.

  • Optimizes code for improved runtime, memory usage and scalability across cores.

  • Ensures quality with thorough unit, regression and/or system-level tests

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS


  • BS in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field with 12 years' experience, MS with 10 years' experience, or PhD with 8 years' experience

  • Extensive commercial experience with a deep understanding of Electronic Design Automation software.

  • Recognized leadership with a track record of defining requirements and delivering state-of-the-art results on highly complex problems

  • Optimization of complex software for performance and memory usage

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS


  • Expert-level knowledge and leadership in numerical analysis and matrix math.

  • Mastery in delivering innovative technical solutions for large-scale commercial products

  • Strong background in C++ and/or Python

  • Experience in using or developing transistor-level simulation or analysis

  • IC physical design and/or static timing analysis knowledge

  • Development and optimization of systems using distributed processing

  • Proven ability to define and understand business requirements and translate them into software roadmaps and plans

  • Experience driving a technology roadmap across multiple development teams

  • Ability to disseminate complex information in a clear way to stakeholders and development teams

  • Ability to drive success across teams and geographies, and to mentor others
