Job Description:

Uniti Fiber Holdings Inc. ("Uniti") is searching a Network Engineer. The Network Engineer is responsible for installation, management and maintenance of WAN and LAN implementations, IP voice systems, Internet connectivity, servers, firewalls, video solutions and SAN solutions as well as other varied and emerging technologies for our company and our customers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Install, configure and maintain customer end-to-end LAN and WAN network implementations and migrations, including adequate sizing, host software and component configurations.


• Manage customer systems and networks to maintain efficient and trouble free operation of all local and remote connectivity and improve quality of service.


• Proactively monitor, analyze and administer the network and attached systems using performance monitoring tools.


• Provide high level network design and support to customers and internal staff.


• Work with telecom service providers to resolve end user network issues.


• Create and maintain up-to-date documentation of network designs, operations and procedure manuals.


• Communicate effectively with staff, clients, management, vendors and service providers.


• Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for all implemented networks.


• Participate in the evaluation and selection of new technology.


• Maintain an advanced level of technical knowledge and skills involving networking design, implementation and troubleshooting use in communications network cabling and 21st Century Classroom tools.


• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.


• Four-year college degree or equivalent experience and 2-5 years in related field of industry plus at least (1) Cisco, Microsoft or approved manufacturer certification. Certification (CCNA, MCITP or equivalent) on products or technology will be required within one year of date of hire.


• Hands-on experience implementing and administrating network devices, setting and maintaining policies and rights/security within a Windows Server 2003/2008 environment:




• Cisco, HP and Dell network switches


• Cisco routers


• Cisco VPN


• Wireless Access Points and Wireless LAN Controllers


• HP, Dell server platforms


• Windows Server 2000/2003/2008 Active Directory


• Symantec Back-up Exec software and related tape drive


• Desktop and laptop installation and problem resolution in a Windows XP/Windows 7 environment


• Previous responsibility for providing customer support




• 2-5 years of experience in the field or in a related area


• Ability to prioritize and multitask.


• Willingness to learn new technologies and maintain industry knowledge.


• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.


• Excellent customer presentation skills.


• Able to travel 25-50% of the time.


• Must possess a valid driver's license and have a suitable motor vehicle report
