Summary of Responsibilities: Set up, start up, maintain, and troubleshoot extrusion lines and associated products in conformance with customer/company production specifications.
Primary Responsibilities:
Read and interpret production paperwork (e.g. Sales Orders, Production Notes Customer Specifications, and Set-Up Sheets)
Set up flat and blown film lines, using previously determined guidelines and specifications
Startup extrusion line and maintain the line within customer specification
Data entry of all production data into Syteline
Prepare customer samples as required
Inspect running material and take gauge samples from rolls per specification and test material
Make tooling changes or adjustments with little or no supervision (e.g. cleaning screws)
Make recommendations to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality of product
Suggests changes in working conditions and equipment use to increase efficiency of plant, department or work crew
Attend weekly shift meeting and safety meetings (in addition to regular work schedule)
Train Utility Workers or other Operators (when required)
Assume the role of Team Leader in Supervisors absence (when required)
Acquire skills to operate a variety of lines to allow for flexibility in production scheduling
Perform duties of Utility Worker (when required)
Maintain confidentiality of information such as formulas, supplier names, materials, process conditions and set-up information

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Ability to multi-task and demonstrate strong time management skills
Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions and correspondence
Ability to travel between facilities
Ability to work overtime if required to meet business demands
Ability to use a computer; including but not limited to manufacturing software
Ability to perform complex calculations including fractions and decimals
Ability to add, subtract, divide and multiply with the aid of a calculator
Ability to read a ruler and understand measurements in fractions and decimals
Ability to communicate effectively with workers, supervisors, managers and customers
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out complex multiple step instructions
Ability to deal with problems and non-standardized situations with multiple variables
Education, Licenses, Certifications:
High School Diploma or GED preferred
Associates degree from a technical school preferred
Experience:
One to three years production experience preferred
Experience with dies and extruders preferred
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job the employee must:
Be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds
Be able to push or pull heavy objects up to 250 pounds
Be able to work 12 hours shifts
Perform repetitive tasks
Routinely stand, sit, hear, walk, and talk
Reach, climb, bend, kneel, crouch, twist and balance; sometimes in awkward or tight spaces
Have good close vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus
Meet SWM certification requirements to operate Power Industrial Trucks
PPE Requirements: Employees are required to wear Personal Protective Equipment including;
Safety shoes (steel toe or composite toe)
Safety Glasses
Bump Caps
Protective Gloves; when performing certain tasks
Hearing Protection; when required
Other personal protective equipment as required for certain tasks
Work Environment: Conditions are that of a manufacturing environment.
Air Temperatures can range from cold to hot
Atmosphere may contain dust, fumes and odors
May include mechanical, electrical, chemical, explosive and radiation hazards
