SIA is seeking a talented, passionate, and motivated Conferences & Events Manager to help take our fast-growing, innovative event portfolio to the next level. The Conferences & Events Manager will be responsible for supporting the conference team in large scale conferences with attendee count ranging from 500-1,400, including on-site set-up, registration, and attendee and sponsor correspondence. This person will work closely with the Marketing and Sales teams to execute flawless events that support Staffing Industry Analysts' reputation of being the global advisor on staffing and workforce solutions. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who is exceptionally strategic, analytical, organized, and able to manage multiple projects at once. This person will report to the Senior Director of Conferences and Events and is preferably based in the California Bay Area.

Responsibilities


  • Collaborating with internal sales/sponsorship to manage all details of the exhibits and sponsorship opportunities, delivering a superior experience.

  • Managing sponsor communication, deadlines and deliverables to coincide with production deadlines.

  • Manage production timelines for all event graphics and assets.

  • Direct responsibility for the conference badging experience (ordering, process documentation, onsite staff training).

  • Track against detailed event execution plans and timelines related to all aspects of events, ensuring the information is communicated with staff, contractors, vendors, sponsors, etc.

  • Support the team by aligning to the SIA conference plan and helping prepare for weekly conference and weekly moderator meetings, in accordance to plan.

  • Ensure excellent customer service and quality delivery.

  • Travelling onsite for inspections and event execution, which requires 20% and primarily domestic.

  • Work closely with our European Events team.

  • Other duties as needed.

Basic Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree (preferably in Hospitality, Marketing, Business or a related field).

  • At least 5+ years of experience in event management, project management and planning.

  • Experience working with corporate sponsors and exhibitors.

  • Experience with online conference communities (applications).

  • Experience in managing registration process online and on-site.

  • Experience with on-demand printing of registrations.

  • You have a keen attention to detail, and the ability to plan, manage and execute multiple projects simultaneously within tight deadlines.

  • Problem solver.

  • Stellar interpersonal communication skills with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

  • You take ownership of your work and continuously strive for improvement.

  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint a must.

  • Superior work ethic and commitment to customer satisfaction - both internal and external.

  • You are a self-starter and thrive in a team setting.

  • Uses good judgment and can act independently within specific parameters/guidelines to support the execution of activities.

  • Must be able to lift and carry at least 20 lbs.

Preferences


  • Experience working with a project management platform, such as Smartsheet or Workfront.

  • You are energetic and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment.

  • Experience with various event registration software platforms.

This position is exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not eligible for overtime pay.
