Loan Servicing Manager at CFCU Community Credit Union in ithaca, New York

Job Description:

CFCU Community Credit Union (CFCU) is seeking to fill a key management position within the credit union.  The position, Loan Servicing Manager, is responsible for the daily operations of the Loan Servicing Department which includes servicing of $880+ million and growing loan portfolio and $150+ million investor mortgage servicing portfolio. The successful candidate will ensure that all aspects of loan servicing - including quality review, collateral perfection and insurance, escrow account management, loan maintenance, and lien releases and discharges – are performed according to established policies and procedures. In addition, this individual will be an effective leader, a great motivator, and possess strong mentoring and coaching abilities. The position reports to the Vice President of Loan Servicing and Asset Recovery.


Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and manage the administration of all Loan Servicing department functions and ensures all servicing functions are regulatory compliant and are completed in a timely manner as mandated by state and federal law and secondary market investors. Direct the activities of the department including providing training opportunities, assigning projects, responding to inquiries, and solving problems.

  • Provide direction to the Loan Servicing staff across various disciplines and skill levels. Develop employee schedules and manage workload balance, with an eye towards quality, regulatory compliance, accuracy, and member-first service.

  • Review, analyze and evaluate workflow, systems, processes, and Loan Servicing department needs for continual process improvements. Take the initiative to formulate and implement solutions that increase overall efficiency.

  • Perform periodic reporting, including monthly investor reporting and HMDA reporting.

  • Manage the payment of all required items for established mortgage escrow accounts for CFCU members and investor mortgages.  Responsible for the annual escrow analysis process.

  • Monitor workflow of the loan servicing department to ensure desired goals and results are achieved.

  • Manage the payment of all required items from established mortgage escrow accounts for 3,000+ CFCU and investor mortgages. Oversee the annual escrow analysis process.

  • Resolve escalated member and systems issues.

  • Oversee the performance of loan maintenance functions including demographic updates, set up of automatic payments, payment corrections and filing of loan documentation.

  • Provide consistent, effective coaching and professional development to loan servicing staff.

  • Actively promote timely communications for members and resolve issues that may arise.

  • Assist the VP of Loan Servicing and Asset Recovery with all audit requests and findings.

  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.


Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Five years of similar or related experience and three years of management experience.

  • Two-year degree in business, finance, or related field preferred or specialized course of study.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently in an efficient and effective manner.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Proficient in technology including Microsoft Word and Excel.

  • Excellent judgement and decision-making abilities.

  • Ability to build relationships within and outside the credit union.

  • Knowledge of consumer and residential lending regulations will be beneficial.
