Comprehensive working knowledge of conveyor systems and supporting equipment (bag machines; tape machines; box machines; scanners; data installs; building maintenance and supporting service contacts is paramount.

Maintain “daily” filing of maintenance documents: PM reports; daily task assignment spreadsheet; parts orders; take 5’s; mechanics daily reports; safety training etc.
Must have excellent attendance practices and be willing and flexible for training and shift coverage when needed.
Conduct oneself in a professional manner abiding by Essendant code of ethics; promote fostering of lean processes in the maintenance department; ensure work assignments are being properly carried out and report issues to the Maintenance Mgr.
Review previous day’s work with Maint. Mgr. before each shift. Review designated priorities with Maintenance Mgr. and “prepare work orders” for all prioritized assignments; log all work on the shop white board for reference daily; encourage the team to use the white board as an open forum for documenting found work; completed work and “fill” work when a specific task has not been assigned.
Post updated PTO schedules; ensure proper coverage when needed; provide completed overtime schedules and signup sheets to the Maintenance Mgr.
Hold daily take 5 meetings & assign daily work to mechanics effectively; keeping neat and accurate records for future reference on the PC. Use the form provided
Prepare written communications by updating the task list Excel spreadsheet at the end of each shift for daily review/communication with shift team leaders and Maint. Mgr.. Use e-mail for these updates. Identify completed tasks; in progress updates; new tasks; etc.
Place calls and follow up calls to suppliers for closure of issues daily and report updates to the Maintenance Mgr. (via e-mail)
Must be able to use the radio, EMAIL, phone, text, and other media formats for positive professional communications between management; mechanics; security; dept. Mgr.s; etc…
Must be able to focus on researching parts, supplies, etc. efficiently, timely, and accurately and document showing part and number; picture of item; available parts in stock; number of items ordered; price; vendor(s); availability; ETA
Communicate daily with mechanics providing a positive professional environment for maximum cooperation, accountability and team effort. Provide cross training so that all mechanics are able to perform all tasks proficiently so that we have proper coverage during scheduled PTO.
Provide monthly self reviews for the Maintenance Mgr. on the first Monday of every month. Review and discuss areas needing improvement with the Maintenance Mgr.; vigorously pursue improving the needed areas identified by the Maintenance Mgr.
