This position is responsible for daily operations of the advanced fabrication and development lab for all air programs. The successful candidate will perform scheduling, prioritizing of workload, technician and engineer tasking and technical oversight of the work product. An understanding of materials and mechanical engineering is desired, including composites and coupon fabrication, bonding principles, coatings and sealants, and principles of mechanical testing. Experience in these areas is preferred, but not required. The successful candidate will be committed to employee development and engagement, and have the ability to develop and maintain strong teams and the ability to work with and manage a team of diverse technical, educational and experience backgrounds. The manager of the MPDFL is responsible for maintaining adequate staffing levels for current and future work, The manager must be able to communicate the capabilities of the MPDFL to customers, both internal and external. A demonstrated ability to perform budgeting and capital asset planning is required.
