Overview
To provide and maintain clean and attractive guest public areas and facilities and to assist room attendants while following company standards and safety procedures
Responsibilities
Knowledge of cleanliness standards.
Approach all encounters with guests and employees in a friendly, service oriented manner. Maintain a warm and friendly demeanor at all times. Be attentive, friendly, helpful, and courteous to all guests, managers and fellow employees.
Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Highgate standards, as required by scheduling which will vary according to the needs of the hotel.
Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which include wearing the proper uniform and nametag while working.
Comply at all times with Highgate standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.
Respond and/or communicate guest requests to an appropriate supervisor in a timely and professional manner
Maintain cleanliness and order of all assigned linen closets and storage areas, and immediately report deficiencies
Ensure that room attendants are stocked on the floors at all time
Regularly remove soiled linen and trash from Room Attendant's carts ensuring that no soiled linen or trash remain in hallways or service landing at the end of shift
Remove trash and soiled linens from public areas regularly or as needed
Ensure guestroom hallways are clear at all times
Deliver guest requested items to appropriate locations as directed (rollaway cots, cribs, refrigerators, microwaves, etc.)
Satisfactorily perform routine cleaning in public areas, including sweeping and mopping employees elevator landings and vacuuming guest hallways
Report all lost and found items to Housekeeping Supervisor immediately
Maintain a neat and adequate supply of guest room supplies in guest floor closet(s)
Perform deep cleaning tasks as scheduled and assigned
Promptly report any deficiencies and maintenance needs in work area
Assist other room attendants, as directed, in the completion of their work
Strip, wax buff the back of house hallways/tiles throughout the building as directed
Immediately report all suspicious occurrences and hazardous conditions
Maintain cleanliness and safety of work areas at all times
Practice safe work habits at all times to avoid injury to self and others, including the safe operation of all power driven machinery
Handle, store and label all hazardous substance according to state and federal regulations
Transport laundry/linen if needed
Tools/Equipment: High speed buffer, marble polisher, extractor and shampoo machine, vacuum, duster/rags, window cleaner, furniture polish, all purpose cleaner, cream cleanser, mop, hand vacuum, extension cord, etc.
Receive deliveries as needed
Keep furniture in hallways clean and dust free. This also includes windows and sills if applicable
Other duties as required
Follow all procedures as outlined by the Director of Housekeeping.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
High School Diploma or equivalent required
Experience in a hotel or a related field preferred
Able to follow simple verbal and written instructions
Able to read and understand chemical labels
Bilingual helpful but not required
Physical Requirements
Long hours sometimes required.
Heavy work - Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and /or 50 pounds (and higher) of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects
Must be able to stand and walk moderate to long distance throughout shift. Bends, stoops, reaches to perform routine job tasks.
Ability to work in heat
