Kleinfelder, a long-standing industry leader in California, is looking for a Construction Inspector (Certified Welding Inspector's and/or Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute Level II) to join our team in any of our San Francisco Bay Area Offices (Oakland, Hayward, Pittsburg, San Jose). We're looking for CWI's or PCI Level II construction inspectors to provide high-level inspection and testing services in shop/fabrication facilities on transportation projects throughout the Greater Bay Area. We need seasoned staff who are comfortable being actively engaged in the fabrication facility providing source inspection services on transportation related construction programs. This role offers a dynamic work environment, the opportunity to work on multiple high-profile projects under single programs, and the opportunity to be part of an industry leading company.

The work in this role includes:

• Work in a team environment under the supervision of the Lead/Senior Quality Assurance Inspector


• Perform inspections of precast pre-stressed concrete elements, and/or steel fabrication and welding, and/or steel coating (galvanization, epoxy, zinc paint).


• If CWI: Perform material ID, welding process inspections, non-destructive testing of welded connections


• IF PCI Level II: Observe prestressing, review rebar size and spacing, verify material compliance, and perform final inspections


• Confirm compliance with Buy America requirements


• Develop relationships with fabricators and their Quality Control Staff


• Observe Quality Control processes


• Prepare summary reports


• Assist with reviews of shop drawings


• Assist with reviews of quality control plans


• Identify samples for testing and review required paperwork


• Review test results to assess compliance with the specifications


• Work on EXCITING and BIG Bridge Projects across California!

Must be willing and able to travel locally, statewide, and occasionally to remote fabrication facilities throughout the U.S.

Consideration for this position requires the following certifications or experience:

• Minimum 5 years of experience.


• Current Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification from the American Welding Society (AWS) or Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute Quality Control Inspector Level II




• ASNT Nondestructive Testing (NDT) experience; minimum level II certification in ultrasonic testing (UT), magnetic particle testing (PT), and dye penetrant testing (DT) preferred.




• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record and ability to pass drug test;


• High School Diploma, or equivalent;


• Ability to work independently and as a team member, maintaining composure, and working effectively in a high-pressure environment with changing priorities.


• Must have excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.


• Able to use a company provided laptop or tablet computer and a working knowledge of MS Office programs (e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).


• Organization and multi-tasking ability.


• A good work ethic, attention to detail, and high level of personal integrity.


• Authorization to work in the United States.
  

In addition to the above required certifications and experience, hiring preference will be given to those with the following certifications or experience:

• Prior transportation fabrication inspection experience


• N.A.C.E. Level II or III certification desired.
