Job Title: Plant Manager

Location: Keosauqua & Centerville, IA

What we're looking for:

We are looking for a Plant Manager whose primary responsibility is to drive profitability and growth of the Keosauqua, IA and Centerville manufacturing plant (~420 employees) through strategic and daily tactical management, driving a culture of functional manufacturing excellence and continuous improvement. The Plant Manager will drive initiatives aligned with short and long-term business plans. This position will foster a culture that promotes employee involvement and engagement in creating and sustaining a safe and secure work environment.

Direct Reports: (2) Ops Managers, EHS, CI Manager, Supply Chain Manager, Manufacturing Manager

What you'll be responsible for in this role:


  • Planning, organizing, budget, maintenance, quality, safety, directing and running optimum day-to-day operations. Increasing production, assets capacity and flexibility while minimizing unnecessary costs. Prepare the plant's budget for the year. Responsibility for production output, product quality and on-time shipping.

  • Provides strategic leadership, vision and sets clarity of direction for the Keosauqua/Centerville plant.

  • Assigns responsibilities for tasks and results; setting clear goals and objectives.

  • Establishes performance metrics, standards, and measurements for direct reports and for the Specialty operation as a whole.

  • Delivers timely, objective, and actionable feedback on performance to plan.

  • On-going report-outs to Executive team on established results and progress.

  • Manages operation to achieve/exceed agreed-upon growth, revenue, and operating income objectives.

  • Implements and maintains visual management standards identifying and reporting problems and issues for resolution.

  • Champions a continuous improvement culture infusing Lean methodology and knowledge, and supporting continued cost reductions, waste reductions, process automation, quality improvements and on-time delivery.

  • Ensures that products are delivered on time to customers and that products meet all customer expectations regarding quality and performance.

  • Works proactively with and effectively engages functional counterparts to ensure overall organizational success.

  • Acts as a coach, mentor, and role model for his or her direct reports and the for the Keosauqua/Centerville plant, maintaining the highest corporate governance principles.

  • Develops talent across the Specialty facility; enhancing bench and operational leadership pipeline.

  • Supports creation of safety goals for the site and appropriate activity-based goals for the leadership team, functional managers, and front-line supervisors to drive a safety culture, compliance, and results.

  • Unwavering commitment to driving an open reporting environment with focus on EHS and Quality compliance.

  • Manages disciplinary issues including corrective actions as needed.

  • Collaboratively works with the Executive Leadership Team to establish a future state road map that will be used for capital, labor, and facility requirements.

What are the basic qualifications?


  • Bachelor's Degree in applicable Engineering discipline, Business Administration, Production or Operations Management, or other applicable disciplines.

  • Minimum of 10 years' leadership experience in a manufacturing

What are the preferred qualifications?


  • Have a proven track record in leading culture change and improving performance.

  • Solid and proven background in the application of production/inventory control, procurement procedures and techniques, and logistics desirable.

  • Experience utilizing project management tools necessary.

  • Lean training and experience, examples of implementing successful lean evolutions. Must be able to demonstrate a history of sustained results in a plant setting.

  • Must have excellent facilitation/coaching skills; strong leadership and communication skills with the proven ability to: drive and influence change, manage conflict, accountability, and foster an environment of excellence at all levels of the organization.

  • Strong strategic thinking skills with ability to develop long-term strategic plans and follow-up action plan to execute on these deliverables.
