Summary

The OPS RN Senior Clinical Supervisor is an integral member of the multi-disciplinary team utilizing the established Cigna policies. Requires the ability to balance clinical skills with supervisory authority and must have the ability to practice skills according to the department and professional standards. Ability to function in an autonomous manner utilizing the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the care of patients. Collaborates with physician managers to assure optimal delivery of services in a fiscally responsible manner. The OPS RN Senior Clinical Supervisor supports Cigna's and nursing's mission, vision, philosophy and educational efforts. Provides leadership in clinical, financial, and personnel management The OPS RN Senior Clinical Supervisor must apply current nursing knowledge, judgment, and nursing skills to provide for the well being of the staff, patient and the patient's family. The OPS RN Senior Clinical Supervisor serves as a resource for internal and external customers by utilizing a number of resources such as established CIGNA policies; protocols and guidelines to ensure delivery of high quality care within the guidelines of CIGNA Outpatient Surgery Policies and Procedures. The OPS RN Senior Clinical Supervisor utilizes knowledge, judgment, and nursing skills needed to assess, provide and evaluate care appropriate to the physical and developmental age of patients. Provides clinical leadership and expertise in a specialty area and functions as a role model, facilitator, teacher and resource person to clinical staff.

Clinical Responsibilities and Essential Functions

Oversees the operations of the unit to ensure smooth and efficient patient care management. Rounds on patients and staff to ensure quality provision of care. Monitors Work queues and In-Basket messages to ensure compliance with established policies. Manages the unit to ensure patient and employee satisfaction while promoting safety and retention. Serves as a real time resource and assists with problem solving related to staffing, supplies, equipment and patient complaints. Coordinates quality initiatives and process improvements. Aligns and manages to metrics. Develops leadership skills among staff including communication, decision making, problem solving, critical thinking and employee engagement. Leads the development of staff and supports career advancement opportunities. Functions as a role model and encourages staff to participate in their own development. Facilitates regular unit meetings and leadership efforts. Assists in selection, orientation, on-boarding and retention. Demonstrates leadership through coaching, performance evaluations, corrective actions, and development opportunities to create a culture of learning. Provides daily operational resource management including staffing, supplies, and equipment. Ensures optimal productivity of the department and supports growth initiatives. Serves as a liaison between department personnel, medical providers, and center administration. Works collaboratively with clinical supervisor to plan and maintain a staffing pattern, which provide for fiscally responsible high quality patient care. Establishes goals for staff, which is measureable and are aligned with unit and Cigna Medical Group goals. Supports Cigna Outpatient Surgery growth initiatives by ensuring surgeons have appropriate access to time in the OR. May work collaboratively with Operations Manager and/or Director to prepare a capital equipment budget. Analyze FTE and budget variances. Follows up on customer complaints in a timely manner. Develops and reviews departmental policies and procedures as needed to promote and provide quality patient care and customer service. Responsible for tracking of staff and clinician licensure and training to comply with State regulations. Promotes care based on evidence based guidelines and policies. Participates in the education, role development and orientation of facility personnel, patients, students, families, and visitors. Promotes/supports growth of others through precepting and mentoring when appropriate. Contributes to activities that lead to excellent patient outcomes through timely, effective, efficient, equitable, and safe care. Actively participates and/or leads the OPS quality improvement program. Follows OSHA guidelines for handling biological fluids and blood. Uses supplies in a fiscally responsible manner Contributes to the organization's drive to achieve "Quadruple Aim" improves the individual experience of care; improves quality and the health of CMG's population, and reduces the per capita cost of care for the population. Improves customer experience and increases access by assisting with efforts such as Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI), Commitment to Service, and Patient Satisfaction

Minimum Qualifications

RN with current Arizona license Graduate of accredited school of nursing BSN preferred Current BCLS certification Current ACLS and PALS certification preferred or obtained within ninety (90) days of employment. 1-2 years clinical experience in acute care or ambulatory nursing experience preferred such as PACU, OR, ED, or ICU. Minimum of 3 years in a supervisory or managerial position preferred. Experience with AAAHC, Medicare and/or State surveys preferred. Demonstrated skills in leadership with excellent verbal and written communication skills, quality improvement, team building, problem solving and change management. Basic computer skills, including but not limited to Microsoft Office applications. Requires critical thinking, communication, influence, decision making, analytical and flexibility skills to make optimal decisions based on multiple variables and desired outcomes.
