Job Description:

This position reports to the General Manager of Cigna Supplemental Benefits (CSB) and has accountability for the business operations of Cigna Supplemental Benefits, including the development and execution of the overall operational strategy of the business, ensuring effective execution of strategic investments and initiatives, and maintaining strong internal operational controls.  This leader will partner closely with the GM in developing and evolving the overall business strategy.  

Accountabilities


  • Responsible for overall execution of the operational and strategic roadmap for CSB. 

  • Direct oversight of Project Management and Portfolio Delivery across CSB, including the annual portfolio planning.

  • Leads cross-functionally; this role will ensure coordination across the business and matrix teams on the execution of initiatives. Partners closely with business and matrix partners (IT, Finance, Marketing, Legal/Compliance), to drive alignment of priorities and plans, and lead the execution of the operational and strategic roadmap of the business.

  • Strengthens internal operating model across the business, including communications, prioritization process, planning, meeting structures, and other means to maximize execution.

  • Builds collaborative relationships with other Cigna leaders across the enterprise to achieve corporate, financial and growth objectives while providing the very best in products and service.

  • Ensure CSB’s proper participation in larger segment initiatives, and dovetail those processes with CSB’s portfolio process and prioritization process.

  • Participates in the development of financial plans, business plans and strategy to support strategic, financial, and growth objectives.

  • Represents CSB in cross Government segment initiatives/ investments. 

  • Partner closely with Cigna Service Operations teams to ensure alignment on claims and call center service levels, investment roadmaps, portfolio execution, and shared resources.

  • Responsible for overall process controllership across business.  Through the QA/Audit/Controllership team, and with close partnership with matrix areas and Compliance, leader will evaluate, build, review, and audit processes to ensure minimal operational, legal, compliance, and service errors.  Continue to build on a culture of compliance and close monitoring of controls.

  • Identifies opportunities for service improvements and cost savings. 

  • Maintains strong employee engagement and defines a culture of collaboration and accountability; successful execution of all attraction, development, motivation and retention efforts.

  • Coordinates budget and expense management activities for Operations and Portfolio through effective planning, monitoring and forecasting.

Requirements


  • Bachelors Degree and MBA or Master’s Degree preferred

  • Minimum of 8 years managed healthcare or insurance experience

  • Minimum of 5 years people management experience

  • Knowledge on individually sold health insurance preferred

  • Proven success in managing growth and change of business operations. Proven ability to drive and lead an organization in a growth environment

  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills

  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills

  • Proven ability leading and driving success in a matrixed environment

  • Proven ability to foster collaboration, value others perspectives and gain support and buy-in for organizational proposals

  • Strong organizational and analytical skills that result in conclusive recommendations

  • Ability to drive results, think strategically and implement a new business growth strategy

This position is not eligible to be performed in Colorado.
