Job Description:

The GIS Developer is responsible for supporting the Global Security team with assessing, manipulating and modifying geospatial third-party data sets to create alignment with schema.

Essential Functions:


  1. Represent Pinkerton's core values of integrity, vigilance, and excellence.
  2. Support the client's Global Security team by manipulating geospatial data sets in ArcGIS or relevant mapping software.
  3. Ability to analyze the components of a shapefile and other standard formats for data quality.
  4. Recognize appropriate data projection for data sets based on location and standards.
  5. Evaluate geospatial data sets for freshness, quality and accuracy.
  6. Research open source geospatial basemap data sets and evaluate for quality.
  7. Respond to geospatial data providers questions using industry knowledge and customer care.
  8. Maintain a positive, empathetic and professional attitude toward partners at all times.
  9. Use mapping tools and GIS experience to continually improve mapping accuracy and edits.
  10. Analyze mapping data and make decisions based on policy to complete mapping workflows.
  11. Maintain geospatial documentation to ensure partners and stakeholders are informed of standards and required schema.
  12. Provide quantitative and qualitative insights to mapping processes as part of post-project analysis or deep-dive.
  13. Intake, research and drive proactive strategies to further the goals of Global Security.
  14. Run QA tools and answer key quality questions about workflows.
  15. Enter key mapping metadata and other information as requested with high accuracy.
  16. Handle complex and time-sensitive geospatial data modeling questions.
  17. Proactively identify and raise systemic problems with tools or processes.
  18. Utilize GIS Enterprise (ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Portal) to create, analyze and publish layers, maps and apps to a web GIS Portal for both static and real time data.
  19. Implement and apply Python scripting to automate processes in ArcGIS.
  20. Automate visualization and sharing using ArcPy.
  21. Create and edit ModelBuilder models to automate complex workflows.
  22. Author and use Arcade Expressions.
  23. Apply procedural concepts to register on-premise or cloud-based data sources with ArcGIS Enterprise.
  24. Apply procedural concepts to manage groups and content.
  25. Configure web app templates and Web AppBuilder widgets.
  26. All other duties, as assigned.

Education, Experience, and Certifications:

High School Diploma or GED with 2 or more years of experience in related work. Previous experience in the security field a plus. Advanced proficiency in GIS data processing is required including coursework and/or previous work in ArcGIS, ArcOnline and other ESRI solutions.

Competencies:


  • Proficiency in GIS mapping tools and experience /course work in ArcGIS Pro.
  • Familiarity with ArcGIS for Server connecting to existing enterprise geodatabases and how to resolve connection issues.
  • Ability to understand and support publishing web services, supporting new capabilities of Portal and Server as they are installed, triaging issues with Portal for ArcGIS web applications and interfaces, and understanding dataflow from systems of record into ArcGIS.
  • Basic knowledge of the different ArcGIS server types and their best use case.
  • Previous experience in a Global Security environment preferred.
  • Effective analytical and problem-resolution skills.
  • Able to manage and maintain confidential and sensitive information effectively.
  • Able to cultivate relationships with key stakeholders across functions to achieve business objectives and drive strategic change.
  • Familiarity with Physical Security initiatives including life safety, asset protection and threat management.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Advanced proficiency of SQL, Data Mining, and Power BI.
  • Familiarity with Python, SharePoint, Dynamics 365, Power Apps, Microsoft Flow and other Microsoft technologies.
  • Serve as an effective team member.
  • Comfortable with a rapidly changing environment.
  • Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously with competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and remotely, troubleshoot problems with minimal oversight.
  • Advanced Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel.
