Job Description:

Overview:

Performs diversified computer aided design/drafting duties working from sketches, concepts, to prepare drawings and parts list, and performs other similar duties necessary for the development and fulfillment of customer orders..

What You'll Do:


  • Works from a variety of specific project assignments requiring independent work and/or specific elements of difficult projects to assist Engineers in drawing custom designs and products.

  • Measures customer equipment with basic measurement devices. Works from rough customer and/or internal sketches, verbal descriptions. Generates CAD drawings with details as appropriate. Reviews and verifies detail with the Project Engineer; makes modifications and changes based upon detail review.

  • Develops drawings based on input from engineer from sources that may include both customer-supplied models and/or customer-supplied written specifications.

  • Develops a detailed parts list as part of the product creation and release process.

  • Assists in maintaining the computer-aided drafting system file library.

  • Reviews customer specific design changes with the Project Engineer and implements into the Engineering Change Order system.

  • Works with production personnel as needed to ensure internal process control and meeting of customer requirements and escalates issues to Designer Drafter or Project Engineer.


  • Follows company policies and practices as outlined in the Employee Handbook and/or applicable employment agreement. Follows safety guidelines and procedures in accordance to the job.

  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

What You'll Need:


  • Associates degree in Engineering, Technical Certificateor equivalent experience.

  • 1-2 years' of drafting experience

  • Working knowledge of CAD modeling and Drafting Principles.

  • Working knowledge of Measurement tools including: Measuring tape, ruler, and Vernier micrometer.

  • Working knowledge of Material Requirement Planning (MRP) system.

  • Solid Edge and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance knowledge.

  • Working knowledge of SAP MRP system.

  • Actively supports and complies with Pelican's objectives, guidelines and commitment to Quality and Safety, with an emphasis on continual improvement.

  • Must be able to interact effectively and cooperatively with employees at all levels.

  • Must have the ability to complete assignments within the timeframe specified by the Manager.

  • Must be flexible regarding working hours and overtime. Must be able to work overtime on evenings and weekends, with or without advanced notice.

  • Must be able to operate in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
