Summary of Job Duties:

Serving as the Division's Research Services Specialist under the supervision of the Director of Special Collections Services and alongside the Coordinator of Research Services, this position assists researchers in their use of Special Collections materials, both on-site and virtually; maintains Reading Room security; coordinates filling requests for duplication; and responds to researcher inquiries. This position serves as lead worker in the Special Collections reading room and assists with hiring and training part-time employees, retrieves and shelves requested archival and print materials, and coordinates duplication services requested by researchers. This position takes a pro-active role in supporting the Division's use of an online researcher registration and request platform through assisting researchers as they place requests.

Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job function of this job, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.



Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:


  • The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma


  • Three years of experience in library or customer services or a related field


Applicable equivalencies may be considered.

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Relevant archives, special collections, museum, or library work experience


  • Academic research experience


  • Experience using web-based content management or inventory control systems


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:


  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills


  • Familiarity with library search strategies and resources


  • Attention to detail


  • Demonstrated ability to learn and use new technology resources effectively


  • Ability to work independently and in teams
