Senior IT Monitoring Engineer will be lead role for implementation, configuration, and support for monitoring of the infrastructure and application environments on-prem and on diverse cloud. This includes the monitoring of hardware (i.e. desktops, laptops, and servers) and our proprietary hosted applications. This position will work with others to design, build, implement, and maintain the monitoring configurations needed for their systems, as well as train other operations and IT personnel on the monitoring tools and how to best use them. The position requires an individual with an overall knowledge of IT logical, technical, and monitoring architecture principles, as well as solid interpersonal and communication skills.
Leads, develops and implements infrastructure and application environments by:
Leading the design, implementation, and ongoing operation of SolarWinds Orion and associated network, application and infrastructure monitoring/performance tools.
Collaborating with others to implement and document IT monitoring principles based on experience and recognized best practices.
Developing an availability and capacity monitoring and reporting process for all systems from servers to desktops, to applications.
Developing and executing test plans to check hardware and systems and make recommendations for improvement.
Conducting research on emerging technologies in support of monitoring efforts and recommend technologies that will increase cost effectiveness in that area.
Manages and maintains the frameworks by:
Completing application availability and performance monitoring
Troubleshooting issues and implementing resolution of monitoring systems.
Working with designated resources to continue building pool of Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) that can assist with monitoring activities.
Conducting research on emerging technologies in support of monitoring efforts and recommend technologies that will increase cost effectiveness in that area.
Maintains Quality Service and Departmental Standards by
Reading, understanding and adhering to organizational Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
Assisting in establishing and enforcing departmental standards
Participating in the modification of company SOPs related to Information Technology

Qualifications:
Education:
BA/BS in Information Systems or at least 7 years demonstrated relevant technical experience.
Experience:
7+ years' experience in implementation and support of an enterprise monitoring system.
Technical understanding of an application hosting IT environment (including web servers, virtualization, storage, load balancers, firewalls)
Expert in server, networking, backup, storage, power, and virtualization tools and concepts as they relate to monitoring.
Expert in monitoring tools and systems (especially SolarWinds Orion software including Network, Storage Application and Web modules) and application/network tools e.g. AppDynamics, Tripwire and Qradar.
Experience of working within a Network Operations Center (NOC) or Operations environment.
Familiarity with ITIL framework and best practices for IT Service Management.
Extensive experience with Microsoft operating systems.
Solid communication skills and customer focus.
