Function: Manufacturing Engineering
Title: OFP Weld Engineer Variable Shift- 75210

Your Responsibilities

As a OFP Weld Engineer Variable Shift for John Deere Harvester Works located in East Moline, Illinois, you will provide Weld ME support and basic trouble shooting for current welding operations on a multi - shift line. In addition, you will:


  • Investigate, gather, and analyze data for identifying root cause for welding issues in the departments supported.
  • Establish routings, pay standards, layouts, weld tooling, weldments costs, OMS, and control plans for revisions to current operations and/or running changes for current product.
  • Identify and implement cost reduction, quality, safety, and ergonomic improvement ideas for welding operations
  • Work with PDM, SAP, Wplanner/MPP, and Creo to perform engineering functions.
  • Design cell layouts to improve material flow and material presentation
  • Participate in annual factory capacity planning and productivity activities for departments.

What Skills You Need


  • Ability to work 2nd or 3rd shift and overtime as required including some weekends
  • Work experience or formal education in Welding Engineering
  • Experience programming and troubleshooting Fanuc robotics welding applications
  • Knowledge of manufacturing weld processes, tooling, and facilities
  • Ability to effectively interact and communicate with union employees, peer engineers and supervisors
  • General understanding of Creo, AutoCAD or other modeling software
  • Knowledge of engineering tools, systems, and databases (SAP, Kotem, etc.)

    What Makes You Stand Out

    Other areas of experience or interest that will help us place you on the right team include:


    • Experience with line and process design, material presentation, cycles of imbalance and visual management tools
    • Experience with shop floor manufacturing and incentive pay systems such as Continuous Improvement Pay Plan (CIPP).
    • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing through the John Deere Quality Production System (JDQPS) or similar Quality Production System.
    • Experience with Lincoln & Miller MIG welding equipment
    • Experience with Laser Welding

    Education

    Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:


    • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering/Technology discipline with an emphasis on welding
