Job Description:

Under general direction, perform entry level work in installation, modification, repair and maintenance of electrical equipment and systems. Will also assist in repair and maintenance of mechanical, hydraulic and electrical components of production machines and equipment throughout the facility. Develop a working knowledge of electrical and hydraulic schematics.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Responsible to the Maintenance Supervisor for the inspection, repair, maintenance and approved modification of electrical equipment.

  • The ability to troubleshoot, repair and maintain electrical distribution systems including motors and controls.

  • Maintain lighting systems as required.

  • Install, troubleshoot and repair new equipment and systems.

  • Perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, calibration and equipment installations.

  • Poses an understanding of PLCs. and their applications.

  • Poses a thorough understanding of the NEC code.

  • Monitor work done by outside contractors

  • Demonstrate a mature, problem solving appr for adherence to NEC requirements and reports back to the Maintenance Supervisor.

  • Assists in the writing the specifications for repairs and new construction when necessary.

  • Responsible for the following: The test, maintenance and installation procedures established as acceptable for the equipment under the care of this department. May assist in the development of procedures or the checkout of electrical systems where established procedures are inadequate and/or non-existent.

  • Ability to start and persist with a plan of action, while exhibiting a high level of motivation, cooperation, and urgency.

  • Ability to use hand/power tools.

  • Ability to identify and take appropriate action when an abnormal situation develops. Ability to communicate effectively, responsibly, and promote effective working relationships.

  • Report immediately all suspicious and hazardous conditions to a supervisor.

  • Understand and observe all safety guidelines and assure quality and safety by complying with all appropriate CBI policies and procedures.

  • Assist in maintaining clean, orderly and hazard-free work areas.

  • Able to work with minimal supervision, be a self-starter and be detailed oriented.

  • Other duties as assigned.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to demonstrate the following competencies:


  • Mathematical skills including the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.

  • Basic computer skills including Outlook, Word, Excel and Maintenance Connection, PLC Programming.

  • The ability to read and write English.

  • Fork Lift certified.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:


  • High School Diploma or GED,

  • Completion of craft apprenticeship, or minimum 2 years of equivalent experience

  • 10 years of experience preferred

  • E1 License and 2 years of experience with Industrial Electrical Systems.

  • Occasionally works on ladder of lift platform at heights of 20 feet or more.

  • Must be able to work in a variety of physically awkward positions.

  • Frequently lifts materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.

  • Use of hands/fingers continuously through the shift to manipulate components, tools, etc.

  • Will stand upright for prolonged periods of time.

  • Must be able to walk while carrying tools and equipment.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception and the ability to distinguish colors.
