Job Summary

The Production Shift Supervisor ensures the safe and efficient production of molded OES products within customer specifications and ensures that machine operators meet the safety, quality, attendance and production expectations while holding direct reports accountable for following all Oldcastle processes/procedures and policies and meeting production requirements.

Essential Duties


  • Reviews the production specifications of each product SKU scheduled for production prior to shift and asks clarifying questions

  • Performs all duties necessary to facilitate efficient operation including movement of raw material as well as minor fixes to machinery in a safe manner

  • Inspects each piece to ensure that it meets quality standards and customer specifications

  • Makes decisive actions a timely manner to prevent product quality issues or inconsistencies to limit production loss

  • Adjusts machines as needed to facilitate operation and communicates these changes with the machine operators/Production Manager/Maintenance Manager

  • Report any personnel issues to Production Manager; use conflict resolution strategies to settle disagreements preventing escalation

  • Maintains a high level of awareness of surroundings and communicates issues or concerns that could potentially interfere with production or create an unsafe work environment

  • Adheres to all established safety procedures and advise supervisor of any potential safety hazards or concerns

  • Always maintains a clean and organized workstation to ensure the safety of self and others

  • Trains new hires/assigns new hire(s) with seasoned employee(s) and provides assessments of new hires/training after 30 days

  • Ensures that operators are performing satisfactorily and achieving attainment goals and adherence to policies and processes by coaching and assisting when necessary as it relates to policies, processes, over-all performance, attendance, safety, and overall teamwork/attitude

  • Communicates work incidents (work-related accidents, near-misses, employee complaints/issues)

  • Adheres/Holds employees accountable for policy violations, including but not limited to Safety, break/lunch adherence, missed time punches

  • Ensures all direct reports are receiving applicable information regarding new processes and training

  • Ensures communication at shift huddles regarding safety, production information from prior shift, production/process updates and requirements for shift and any applicable communication

  • Provides overall performance information for 90-day reviews to Production Manager/HR for regular new hires and temporary personnel (Including attendance and attitude/teamwork)

  • Partners with Production Manager/HR for documentation/issuance of attendance points letter and disciplinary actions when applicable, or when seeking guidance

  • Documents any/all information – communicates with management/HR for guidance regarding any patterns of violations (coaching given, overall performance, attendance, attitude, safety issues/complaints)

  • Ensures coverage for planned shift production needs by approving time-off requests, sick/vacation hours vs. needs and submits to Production Manager for final approval

  • Reviews/approves timecards – assigns points when applicable

  • Ensures that accurate records are being kept for production, scrap, material consumption, by submitting EOS Reports (End of Shift) in a timely manner daily to also include attendance/reasons for absences, late arrivals, and early leaves

  • Communicates any consecutive absences to Management/HR

  • All other duties as assigned to support business needs

Education/Experience


  • High school degree or GED

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred, not required

  • At least 3 years’ experience in Production/manufacturing

  • At least 3 years’ experience in a leadership role or supervisory role

  • Basic to advance skills with MS Office, with the ability to complete reports and navigate through multiple platforms and reporting features

Physical/Environmental Demands

 


  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. regularly

  • Must be able to work in plant production environment involving indoor & outdoor work, exposure to noise, dust, and in proximity to hot equipment

  • Respirators and face shields worn when necessary, appropriate facial grooming required to ensure effectiveness

  • Safety glasses and safety shoes worn at all times

  • This job involves walking, climbing stairs/ladders, standing, climbing, bending, stretching, and using hands and fingers to hold, grasp, push, and lift items

  • Job responsibilities involve frequent exposure to oil and grease
