Job Summary

Reporting to the Vice President of Operations and working with local production teams; the Senior Electrical Technician researches, plans, designs, develops, troubleshoots and conducts tests on electronic cables/harnesses, production software, programmable logic controls (PLC) and mechanical assemblies and/or systems. Other responsibilities include the design of test control apparatus and equipment, evaluation of operational systems and recommendation of design modifications to eliminate causes of malfunctions or changes in system requirements. Direct and coordinate activities which include design, manufacture and test electronic, and failure analysis as required.


  • Assist and train local maintenance teams at plants throughout Florida, Alabama, and Mississippi


    • Troubleshooting manufacturing equipment

    • Supervise, review, and assist as needed for manufacturing equipment electrical upgrades and layout changes



  • Work with local teams as needed on Capex projects

    • Review project proposals

    • Review timelines

    • Identify equipment and connections points for electricians



  • Troubleshoot and help with commissioning of new equipment

  • Other duties may be assigned

Requirements


  • Ability to travel up to 70% of the time (2-5 days a week) (travel restrictions apply during Covid-19)

  • Experience working with equipment in an industrial manufacturing setting (mechanical & electrical)

  • Some level of teaching or training experience

  • Identify basic principles of electricity, Ohm's law, Equipment Testing, Electrical Safety

  • Basic knowledge of OSHA and NFPA 70E standards

  • Able to read and understand electrical schematics and blueprints

  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal, influencing, and presentation skills

  • Teach and coach the three hazards of electricity - shock, arc, and blast

  • Understand safety signs and guarding of energized parts

  • Expert knowledge on the following:

    • 480-volt systems

    • Full understanding of electric motors & light curtains

    • Photo eyes

    • Proximity switches

    • Motor starters

    • Relay contactors



  • Must be a safety champion

Preferred


  • Master Electrician’s License or 7 years of similar work experience

  • Certifications (if applicable)

  • 5 years direct experience in the manufacturing industry strongly preferred

  • Associate degree or technical college degree/certificate preferred

  • Prior experience as a Trainer/Instructor

  • Certified Electrical Safety Compliance Professional (CESCP)
