Job Description:

The Senior Human Resources Business Partner provides human resources (HR) leadership, guidance and consulting to Management for the NA Reference Lab organization. This role will partner with leaders to understand business and provide direction, with emphasis on people aspect of the business. Understands and represents people issues to the business, incorporating data-driven metrics, and develops solutions to drive the business. The HRBP will coordinate delivery of specialized HR services through centers of excellence (COE), including organizational development, leadership development, talent acquisition and others, personally participating in key assignments as appropriate. In addition, this role will ensure transactional-oriented HR needs are handled through HR service centers, as well as balance needs of individual business lines with need to deliver efficient, best-in-class HR service to Company as a whole.

In the role of Senior Human Resources Business Partner:


  • You will provide HR leadership to Reference Lab Management which fosters engagement and aligns people with the direction of the business to drive results.You will serve as key, trusted advisor to leadership on business direction, particularly related to people aspects of the business. You will help business leaders identify, prioritize and build organizational capabilities, talent pipelines, behaviors, structures and processes, supported by data and analysis. You will use insights about likely future changes in people and organizational behavior to assist in development of business future direction and strategy. You will align HR direction with business goals and longer-term business requirements.

  • You will identify new opportunities where HR can add business value. You will act as liaison between the line and HR to ensure that HR services are aligned with internal client needs. You will facilitate COEs to develop and implement HR programs as needed, including organizational development, leadership development, talent acquisition, employee relations, talent analytics, compensation, benefits and others. You will seek opportunities to deliver HR programs to benefit business and align with overall Company, as appropriate.

  • You will personally participate in certain critical HR business activities led by COEs, such as key hires, organizational development discussions, employee relations issues, learning and development strategies and other areas as appropriate.

  • You will provide advice and coaching to Lab Leadership management as needed. You will understand Management opinions and anticipate their needs and concerns. You will direct all stakeholders to leverage HR service centers as appropriate to handle transactional-oriented requests, for maximum efficiency.

  • You will build business knowledge, including organizational strategy, competitive strengths, industry dynamics, profit levers, customers and competitors. You will understand social, political, economic, environmental, technological, and demographic trends that impact the business and translates these trends into business implications.

  • You will maintain knowledge of laws, regulations and best practices impacting human resources activities and incorporate into work as appropriate.

What you will need to succeed:


  • Bachelors degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required (10+ years of relevant HR experience)

  • Strong relationship building and customer facing skills with the ability to advise senior leaders and employees while balancing the needs of both employees and the business.

  • Strong organizational effectiveness and business acumen - understanding of business and industry and key growth and profitability drivers.

  • Systems thinker, in terms of scalable technology or other solutions.

  • Strategic thinker with ability to transcend tactical and think at strategic level.

  • Strong influencing skills with ability to establish and maintain credibility with senior leaders and other key decision makers.

  • Strong consulting, coaching and problem-solving skills with the ability to appropriately advise in conflict situations and on points of disagreement to support win-win outcomes.

  • Stellar judgment with situational adaptability to make sound and objective business judgments quickly and effectively while balancing the needs of both employees and the business.

  • Excellent communication and listening skills with the ability to communicate both good and challenging feedback at all levels of the organization.

  • Lifelong learner who stays current with trends and constantly adds to skill base.

  • Leadership presence embodying actions of a leader.

  • Project/program management skills with knowledge in using project management methodology.
