Job Summary:

WEX is seeking a self-driven leader to join their top-notch team as an FP&A Manager. This role will have 1 direct report and will work in the Corporate Headquarters located downtown, Portland, Maine.

The ideal candidate will have the opportunity to:


  • Be integral to driving financial accountability and business partnering across the Global IT Organization (Infrastructure and Software Development), which includes supporting the CTO and other senior leaders as required. The expectations of this role are to develop and streamline processes to allow the group to scale and provide real value to our internal business partners in technology and across WEX. A successful candidate views challenges as opportunities and displays inherent desires to continuously improve. In addition, this role will be responsible for the Technology Organization's monthly, quarterly and annual forecast and budget processes. The FP&A Manager will also be responsible for the monthly & quarterly close process, including journal entries (accruals, reclassifications) and reporting financial results each month.


  • Develop best practice solutions aimed at providing transparency, owner accountability, and financial insight to the leadership team of the global IT organization. You will be expected to create processes and precedents for items such as headcount management, system controls, and vendor relationships. While there will be elements of standard monthly close processes (reclasses, accruals, and variance analysis), a successful candidate will deliver value-add results through standardization and automation to improve the flow of information/ownership of results, ultimately spending less time crunching numbers and more time on analysis.


  • Build strong partnerships across multiple lines of business. A successful candidate will initiate and facilitate cross-functional change across the lines of business. Through leadership and advanced financial analysis, you will work directly with the business to effectively deploy capital and development resources that drive WEX growth and profitability.


  • Direct preparation of budgets, reviews and budget proposals, and ensures the plan is consistent with expectations while keeping in mind the company's strategic objectives. You will be expected to identify areas of financial risk and opportunities, leveraging both internal knowledge of the business as well as outside market factors such as growth rates, fx rates, and fuel prices. A successful candidate will have a passion for understanding the "why", and is motivated by the details that can be the difference between mediocre and leading FP&A teams.


  • Be a key thought leader of the finance team, influencing decision making, identifying finance priorities, and developing operational efficiencies/best practices. As the financial point person for the global IT organization, a successful candidate will bring strong communication skills, organizational rigor, and a strong desire to improve the financial relationship with our internal customers.


Qualifications for success:


  • 4+ years in a financial analysis role with progressive growth


  • Management / leadership experience preferred


  • Advanced skills within the Microsoft products including above average proficiency with Excel


  • Proactive and able to work independently, yet can also work in a team environment


  • Ability to work and achieve deadlines


  • Results oriented


  • Strong organizational skills


  • Ability to communicate at all levels


  • College degree, BS degree in Accounting or Finance


  • International experience preferred


  • HFM/Oracle Planning experience a plus


  • Ability to multitask in a fast paced environment
