Department Overview

The Sales Engineer Department is a segment of the WatchGuard Portfolio, this team focuses on Body Worn Camera and In Car Video Systems, License Plate Readers (LPR) and Backend Software.



Job Description

The Sales Engineer will provide technical presales support to Sellers, including MRs. A high demanding pace, an individual with high attention to detail, technically astute, and good relationship skill. This position will work on designing solutions for customers, and presenting the value proposition to the customer. The sales engineer will be familiar with all technical aspects and issues of the product or service. This ensures a high level of customer satisfaction, as a sales engineer will be prepared for any / all technical issues that may come about. This is a position for someone with both technical knowledge and sales skills.

The Sales Engineer will be responsible but not limited to the following:


  • Provide presales technical support for the video solution products and back office products, particularly those related to our video evidence management system and the back office needed to support them


  • Support customers in the Mid-Atlantic & Northeast Region


  • Support Regional Sales Managers/MRs and Proposal Writers to architect, propose, present, and finalize the needed back office components for our solutions


  • Maintain a high level of up-to-date sales and technical product knowledge, including servers, storage, cloud storage (Azure), Wi-Fi and LTE technologies - particularly as it relates to our video evidence management systems


  • Architect back office solutions in accordance with our hardware, network, and infrastructure requirements for the sales team and RFP responses. Detailed understanding of customer needs and operating procedures is a must in order to engineer systems to properly meet customer needs


  • Present our Video Evidence Management solutions to prospects and customers


  • Interface with potential customers via telephone/web meetings and/or face-to-face at customers' sites


  • Maintain an up-to-date understanding of industry trends, technical developments and competitive offerings that affect target markets


  • Partner with the internal sales team to communicate how WatchGuard's optimal video hardware/software capabilities translate into real world value and efficiency


  • Share valuable field insight with the sales, product, and engineering team to ensure perpetual product improvements and evolution


  • Strong adaptive skills, and the ability and desire to keep up with the latest new technologies


  • Excellent oral/written communication skills


  • Excellent customer relations skills


  • Proven application of sound troubleshooting strategy under conditions of critical severity with large enterprise customers and/or mission critical organizations


  • Professional experience providing technical support through phone, email, and remote support channels


  • SQL Server Databases - installation, management, and data management


  • Microsoft Active Directory domain environment - both on-premise and Azure as well as Local Directory Services (LDAP)


  • Windows Server and desktop client installation and configuration, security, firewalls and routing connectivity


  • TCP/IP Networking, routing, and configuration


  • Hardware, Software and Network troubleshooting, including server, desktops, switching, and IP connectivity


  • Experience and knowledge with automotive wiring, connectivity, and hardware and ability to competently install our video products in a vehicle.


  • Strong general knowledge of wireless communications fundamentals and voice/data architectures - both public and private (e.g. APCO P25, LTE, 802.11, 3G/4G) is highly desirable

  • Strong written and oral communications skills with the ability to present complex topics to technical and non-technical audiences


  • Willingness to think out of the box and challenge the status quo


  • Attention to detail and a flawless execution mindset


  • Ability or Experience to work and lead a remote team


  • Knowledge of RF coverage predictions, traffic/capacity modeling, and related toolsets is an asset


  • Ability to work in a team environment and individually as needed


  • Ability to handle multiple projects, tasks, and customers at a time


  • Well-developed training, sales & presentation skills


Qualifications:


  • Bachelors of Science is required. Preferred emphasis in Electrical, Wireless, Computer, Network Engineering or Computer Science


  • 4+ years of experience in one of the following: sales,engineering or solutions architecture


  • Knowledge of RF coverage predictions, traffic/capacity modeling, and related toolsets is an asset


  • Strong written and oral communications skills with the ability to present complex topics to technical and non-technical audiences


  • Ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders


  • Ability to travel - 25-70%


  • This position is subject to working in high security areas governed by the US Department of Justice's "Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy" and therefore requires successfully passing a more stringent fingerprint background checkadministered by Motorola Solutions Inc. customers




Basic Requirements


  • Bachelors Degree


  • 4+ years of experience in one of the following: sales,engineering or solutions architecture


  • Must be able to obtain background clearance as required by government customer
