Your Responsibilities

As a Infrastructure Engineer for John Deere located in Moline, Illinois, you will provide systems programming support for our mainframe environment - your focus will be database systems. You will also be responsible for the installation, maintenance and configuration of the database software and the supporting tools. The database software included in responsibility is Db2, IMS, CICS, and Host MQ.

As a Infrastructure Engineer for Mainframe Services located in Moline, ILyou will....


  • Apply information and system analysis to resolve mainframe infrastructure outages and impairments.
  • Perform root cause analysis which includes detailed analysis to assist in the effective remediation and long-term elimination of complex problems
  • Manage elements of the current infrastructure and help in the design of new elements to ensure high availability and optimal performance in an integrated environment
  • Participate in or lead work to apply technology to meet specific business and customer needs, work on more difficult tasks, and on occasion provide work direction for others and act as a backup for other leaders and technical resources

Participate as part of a team that plans, implements, and manages the total database needs of the mainframe environment and our business partners.

What Skills You Need


  • 5+ years of experience in 1 or more of the following | Db2 for Z/OS, IMS, CICS, and Host MQ.
  • 4+ years of experience and deep understanding of John Deere's current mainframe environment.
  • 4+ years as a mainframe systems programmer or equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years of experience in applications development environment, database, data management and mainframe infrastructure capabilities and constraints.
  • Demonstratable knowledge and experience in 1 or more mainframe programming languages.

1+ years of experience working and delivering in an Agile/Scrum team environment.

  • Demonstrated deep experience in many or all of the following : SMP/E, TSO, ISPF, JCL, RACF, NetView, ESP, SQL, ISPF, SAS, Perl, Python, Assembler, CLIST, REXX, SMF.
  • Proven strong technical leadership skills, influencing effectively without authority, and the ability to resolve impediments in a timely manner.

Education


  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology or equivalent discipline.
