Job Description

Position Summary

Contribute to operational success by preparing components for chain drive conveyor belting using various chain prep equipment. Weld conveyor belting using various welding equipment and ensure all products are made to specification in accordance with plant manufacturing tolerances.

Responsibilities


  • Applies appropriate welding processes to join, surface, fabricate or repair parts of metal or other weldable materials, as specified by work orders, blueprints, sketches or charts.

  • May lay out and mark weld points on parts or subassemblies using rule, square, scribe or templates.

  • Trim and weld product as specified by shop orders and engineering drawings, periodic quality checks on work, movement of materials, assembly of chain rods and other chain drive components.

  • Cut and journal rods, knock down chain to specific lengths, drill and punch chain, movement of materials using hand carts and fork trucks, periodic quality checks on work.

  • Interpret engineering drawings to manufacture belt to specification, assemble components for various types of belts.

  • Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Experience and Skill Required


  • High School Diploma or GED required.

  • Vocational/Technical or other welding/light fabrication experience preferred.

  • Welding and mechanical experience required.

  • 1 - 3 years of manufacturing experience preferred.

  • Applies basic skills and may develop advanced skills using tools and equipment appropriate for the position or specialization.

  • Duties and tasks are standardized.

  • Resolves routine questions and problems, and refers more complex issues to higher levels.

  • Works under direct supervision and follows standard procedures and written instructions to accomplish assigned tasks.

  • Ability to have attention to detail

  • Ability to use measuring devices, such as tape measurers and calipers.

  • Manufacturing terminology knowledge preferred.
