Position Overview

Administers HR related programs in accordance with the organization's policies. Manages employment related activities including recruiting, employee and labor relations, HRIS data entry and maintenance, various reporting, and leave administration. Exposed to personal and confidential information requiring appropriate discretion. Assists other manager/supervisors in conducting meetings and promoting compliance with government regulations as well as plant policies and procedures. Uses independent judgment in performing daily duties. Works from general policies and objectives. Refers to supervisor when in need of clarification or interpretation of organizational policy.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

• Administers company benefits, policies, and procedures (salary and wage) in coordination with corporate staff. Assists in compiling any plant specific policies. Prepares and maintains data and reports for accidents, worker's compensation, and outside agencies. Administers affirmative action plan and promotes diversity at the location.


• Administers all aspects of the employment process from recruiting to new hire orientation. Ensures that job descriptions are updated annually and provides local and regional salary information to assist management in determining appropriate rates of pay.


• Manages employee-relations issues including discipline methods and arbitration. Union locations are also involved in contract negotiations/interpretations, grievances, arbitration, and related labor-relations issues. Works with Director of Employee and Labor relations for guidance when necessary. Investigates and maintains documentation of employee complaints (ADR) and participates in EEOC and employee complaint meetings.


• Coordinates performance management activities such as disciplinary reviews and terminations with the assistance of corporate staff. Documents appropriate information throughout the performance management process. Trains staff on topics such as job interviewing, performance reviews, harassment, alcohol and drug policy, etc.


• Promotes teamwork and interfaces with all employees on continual basis. Coordinates employee special events such as open houses, location cook-outs and picnics.


• Maintains vacation schedules, records absences and tardiness. Works with our third party vendor to coordinate employee leaves and ensures HRIS system is accurate and up to date based on leave information. Processes retirement paperwork.


• Assists in various public relations issues as directed.


• Performs special projects or reports as directed.

Other Requirements

• Proficient in English written and verbal communication skills

• Familiar with applicant tracking system and processes.


• Ability to use computer programs to input, store and retrieve data as well as to generate reports and documentation used in related projects.

Experience

• 5 or more years of experience in progressive human resource position.

Licenses and Certifications

• SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP (Preferred)

Education

• Bachelor's Degree in human resources, business, or related.
