Job Description

SUMMARY

Connecticut Children's Medical Center is a nationally recognized, Magnet designated, 187-bed not-for-profit children's health care system headquartered in Hartford, Connecticut. Ranked by U.S. News & World Report as one of the best children's hospitals in the nation, we foster a patient- and family-centered environment with a focus on research, education and advocacy. This regional health care system cares for children across multiple states and is the only free-standing children's hospital between Boston and New York. Connecticut Children's provides various specialized services to take care of all of our community's children, from emergency care to behavioral health, surgery to critical care, orthopedics, cancer treatment, cardiology, and more.

Connecticut Children's serves as the primary pediatric teaching hospital for the University of Connecticut, School of Medicine, has a teaching partnership with the Frank H. Netter MD School of Medicine at Quinnipiac University, and is a research partner of The Jackson Laboratory.

Connecticut Children's welcomes, cares for and protects all children who walk through our doors. We are an institution of acceptance and compassion regardless of nationality or immigration status.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

Connecticut Children's is looking for a BE/BC Pediatric Intensivist to join our critical care team in our 18 bed PICU. This is primarily a clinical position, but the ideal candidate will be expected to be involved in other activities, such as teaching, quality improvement, clinical program development, etc. Our philosophy is to provide evidence-based, high-intensity, family-centered, compassionate care.

The hospital has an independent pediatric residency program. We are also responsible for teaching Pediatric Emergency Medicine fellows and medical students. We see a commitment to teaching as one of the core values of our division - a pediatric facility that delivers vital and lifesaving care for children and their families throughout the region.

Position Specific Role Responsibilities

Experience providing health care in pediatric critical care settings. Demonstrated teaching and leadership experience with strong leadership potential.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

Must have the knowledge, skill and judgment to quickly assess and treat a critically ill patient so they can achieve the best outcomes possible from critical illness or injury.

Partnering with an interdisciplinary team, the intensivist improves survival, speeds recovery, minimizes disability and relieves pain and suffering in a caring and respectful manner.
