Summary:

As a member of the Operations Manufacturing Equipment Support team this Supervisor will support Dexcom's manufacturing equipment and processes. Through organizing schedules and coordinating a team of technicians on a 7/24 schedule, the Supervisor will ensure completion of preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance and equipment support in a safe and timely manner.

Working as a member of an Engineering team, this supervisor will collaborate and communicate with technical staff, including Manufacturing supervisors and managers, sustaining engineers and support departments as well as vendors.

Functional Description: Management

Oversees the planning, development, implementation and maintenance of manufacturing methods, processes and operations for new and existing products. Ensures the effective use of materials, equipment, and personnel in producing quality products at minimum costs. Acts as liaison with engineering in releasing new products. Develops systems to maintain reports and record keeping of company products. Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.

  • Acts as advisor to unit or sub‐units and may become actively involved, as required, to meet schedules and resolve problems.

  • People management responsibilities include hiring / terminations, performance reviews, career development coaching and compensation decisions.

Experience and Education Requirements:


  • Typically requires a Bachelor's degree with 5-8 years of industry experience.

  • Informal management/ team lead experience.


Workplace Type:
  • The Workplace Type for this role is Flex. Based on the nature of your position you will be working onsite approximately 2-3 days per week from collaborative space and hoteling desks at our Dexcom sites. You will need to be located within commuting distance (typically 75 miles/120km) of your assigned Dexcom site.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Supervise a team of engineering technicians working within the Operations engineering department

  • Coordinate the preventative maintenance of automated, semi-automated and manual equipment in a dynamic factory environment. Ensure maintenance performed to schedule and quality of workmanship

  • Oversee and coordinate the corrective maintenance of automated, semi-automated and manual


equipment in a dynamic factory environment. Ensure timely responses and quality of workmanship

  • Develop and iterate internal systems to manage preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance, training and spares.

  • Generate and communicate department statistics to engineering and management

  • Maintain equipment spare parts and traceability of inventory.

  • Develops schedules and manpower requirements for assigned areas

  • Acts as liaison between R&D, manufacturing, and engineering to coordinate equipment improvement, equipment moves and equipment validations.

  • Coordinates with various groups such as quality and engineering to analyze equipment failures and quality issues.

  • Provide and ensure training in safety, equipment operation, equipment documentation and equipment validation.

Required Qualifications:


  • Requires a BA Degree preferably in Manufacturing Engineering or Operations Management or equivalent with a technical equipment manufacturing background experienced

  • 4-6 years of related work experience in Medical Device or related industry to include at least years 2 years as a supervisor of an equipment maintenance group. Comfortable working hands-on in a fast-paced environment

  • Demonstrated background of leading a team of hourly personnel

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Products

  • Strong skills or knowledge related to product, process, equipment, and fixture documentation, development and improvement

  • Ability to deal with ambiguity/uncertainty and a willingness to try new/challenging things.

  • Extreme Attention to detail and keen observation

  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills

  • Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Experience with providing technical support for automated systems

  • Experience with medical manufacturing validations of equipment

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Directly supervises employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this area. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Language Skills: Must be able to communicate effectively in English. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
