Epson America is a leading manufacturer in the printer, professional imaging, projector, scanner, system devices, and factory automation categories. The Sr. Customs Coordinator is responsible for preparing international shipping documents that control import and export documentation and clearing US Customs for inbound ocean and air shipments. Collaborates with/Key Customers, US Customs and all other government related offices, Bureau of Industry & Security (BIS), EAI Warehouses and Distribution Centers, Customer Account Services, Latin America Operations, and Canada Operations.
Responsibilities
Process import customs entries within the company stated KPIs
Process ISF filings as required by US Customs
Reconciliation of Cost adjustments
Determine accurate tariff classification for imported goods
Ensure compliance of Customs regulations at all times
Monitor import shipments and update ETA's or any other pertinent data related to import cargo movement on reports and in SAP system.
Perform other duties and/or projects as assigned
Adhere to policies and procedures for custom clearance operations
Audits import files to ensure accurate data entry in GTS and ensure it meets all compliance regulations
Communicates with internal departments relating to status of import products
Document Preparation
Prepares export shipping documents for international shipments to ensure compliance with Customs and all other government related offices requirements
Reviews daily orders placed on export hold, recommends if order can be released, and releases order as approved (e.g., dealing with a regulated chemical, denied person/country, controlled software)
Administrative Support
Ensures completeness of import and export files prior to arranging for data imaging and offsite storage
Prepares wire transfer payment requests to carriers in advance of container arrival
Coordinate with warehouses regarding delivery orders and container pick up
Coordinate with freight forwarders regarding export documentation and completeness of shipper's export declarations (SED)
Position requires overtime during peak times or as business needs dictate
Skills & Qualification
5- 8 years of customs brokerage related experience
Customs Brokers License desired
Experience within a corporate environment
Completion of an undergraduate degree or equivalent experience (B.A or B.S)
Understanding all the elements of an import and export customs desk
Understanding of transportation and brokerage documents
Proactive in resolving problems and taking initiative to see them through
