THIS IS FOR FIRST SHIFT, MONDAY-THURSDAY, SOME OVERTIME ON FRIDAYS. 5:00 A.M.-3:30 P.M. MAY REQUIRE ADDITIONAL HOURS

PURPOSE OF POSITION

Directs the work of the Maintenance Mechanics and Custodians to ensure quality service to internal customers.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES


  • Supervises the daily operations of the Maintenance Mechanics and Custodians.

  • Schedules and plans the work of the department.

  • Provides and maintains the in-house security, fire, and safety protection systems.

  • Analyzes employee resources and selects employees for each position.

  • Presents requests and reports to management.

  • Assists mechanics with difficult or large repair and construction projects.

  • Schedules employees for overtime and weekend work.

  • Reads blueprints and draws sketches for repair and construction work.

  • Sets and maintains departmental budgets.

  • Works on-call 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

  • Assists in training Maintenance Mechanics and Custodians.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned or as the situation dictates.

DECISIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Responsible for scheduling the work and selecting the best employee for each job.

  • Allocates funds from the maintenance budget.

  • Responsible for the accuracy and quality of each repair or construction project.

  • Coordinates maintenance schedules with other departments.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES


  • Requires a minimum of two years experience in a supervisory position is recommended.

  • Must have general experience in other mechanical areas.

  • Management skills are needed to be able to direct the daily operations of the department while coordinating with other departments.

  • Requires the ability to read and follow blueprints and drawings.

  • Measurement skill to 1/32 inch is required.

  • Reads and understands the electrical code book, and other instruction manuals.

  • Knows the location of all machines and equipment.

  • Requires professional level training or experience to equal five years in more than one maintenance/mechanical area.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS


  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds when assisting with repairs and installations.

  • Must be able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and squat to perform job functions.

  • Must be able to use both hands and arms in a repetitive motion.

  • Must be able to work in or travel through the manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, fumes and dust particles.

  • Has the visual ability to assist with projects and to check the work of others.

  • Must have the hearing ability to be able to listen for mechanical problems.


  • Must be able to withstand both cold and hot conditions, depending on location and weather.

  • Must be able to travel throughout the facility to obtain information needed to perform job functions.
