Job Description:

TransCore (TRN), a subsidiary of Roper Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: ROP) is seeking a full-time  Lead Technician to join our team in Long Island City, New York.


Job Summary: Supervise the maintenance and installation of electronic toll collection equipment.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.



  • Field maintenance/support of the TBTA All Electronic Toll (AET) Lanes as assigned within the NY/NJ Toll Systems.

  • Supervise field technicians in the region

  • Inventory; maintenance activity forms; regular activity reporting

  • Repair of AET equipment in field; equipment installation & corrective repair.

  • Maintain good customer relations.

  • Anticipated overnight shift/schedule.

Required Skills & Experience: 



  • Must have basic understanding of electronics, including: calibration checks and troubleshooting of electronic equipment.

  • Ability to learn diagnostic testing of electronic and electromechanical equipment.

  • Familiar with a wide range of power tools and able to handle tools, equipment, and parts weighing up to 70 lbs.

  • Excellent driving record including the ability to drive at night.

  • Possess demonstrated awareness of the safety aspects of a field technician position

Desired Skills: 



  • 3 to 5 years of experience with hands-on based skill with toll collection systems that share the prime features of the AET System.

  • Associate degree in Electronics, or an Electronic Technician Certificate from the military, or equivalent certification from an accredited trade school.

Language Skills:  Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.


Mathematical Skills:  Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.


Reasoning Ability:  Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.  Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Driving is a key requirement for this position.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions.
