Job Summary:

This position is responsible for directing, coordinating, and overseeing Supply Chain Management operations which includes Fiber Procurement, Materials Management and Logistics for the Port Angels Mill. This position establishes policies, processes and procedures for business purchases and inventory management. Oversees hourly, professional staff, and supervisory personnel. Accountable for budgeting and organizational structure decisions for the section, as well as, developing and managing external business relations with strategic partners.  This Position Supports the Port Angeles Washington Mill and may be done remotely within the Northwest Pacific Area.

Job Responsibilities:


  • Plans, directs, and oversees all functions of the Supply Chain Management organization.

  • Oversee implementation of Strategic Alliance Agreements and Strategic Sourcing initiatives.

  • Oversees developments relative to purchasing, contracts management, inventory management, and materials management and makes recommendations designed to improve departmental processes and procedures, realize efficiency gains, reduce costs, and/or improve quality of the services rendered.

  • Oversees the implementation of processes improvements that support company-wide efforts to eliminate non-value-added activities.

  • Develops key Supply Chain strategies, performance measurements, and benchmarking programs to support continuous improvements efforts, leverage cost reduction opportunities, and strive for the optimal combination of delivery, quality, quantity, and price.

  • Develop a source base for OCC (Old Corrugated Containers).  Prospect using personal contact, telephone, and inquiry letters.  Follow-up on source leads and closes sales.

  • Establish and maintain an effective Vendor/Carrier Management process.

  • Responsible for ensuring contractual agreements are structured in accordance with company policy and in compliance with legal guidelines and contracting principles.

  • Monitors supplier relations and coordinates supplier performance measurements with respective business units.

  • Develops and maintains Materials Management activities to achieve accurate demand planning, inventory accuracy, and supplier coordination while balancing customer service goals with appropriate inventory control measures.

  • Provides leadership to managers, supervisors, and employees. • Communicates effectively across the organization to ensure Supply Chain Management requirements are provided and adhered to.


  • Demonstrated leadership experience as a supervisor, manager, with progressive leadership roles.

  • Comprehensive knowledge and skills in Supply Chain Management concepts and practices including purchasing, contracts, materials services, inventory management, strategic sourcing, and development of strategic alliances.

  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of Supplier Diversity initiatives including Federal, State, and local reporting requirements.

  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of budgeting and financial management practices and procedures.

  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of Integrated Supplier Services as they relate to the paper industry.

  • Proven experience with establishing or maintaining an effective vendor management process

  • Proven ability to develop and align departmental direction with Company s vision, mission, strategic plan, and strategic goals.

  • Proven ability to develop employees and the next generation of leadership and staff.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

  • Proven ability to maintain effective working relationships with employees at every level, and the public.

  • Proven ability to maintain a strong sense of propriety concerning confidential matters.

Education and Experience Requirements:


  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Supply Chain Management, Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration or combined education and work experience equivalent

  • 10 years’ experience in a related Supply Chain Management field.
