Job Description:

ERM is seeking a motivated hands-on Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Compliance Consultant to join our team in San Jose, California. This opportunity provides a unique experience for us to help continually develop, improve, and implement various elements of the EHS program for a global high technology company. The ideal candidate will have experience in waste management (hazardous, non-hazardous, universal, electronic), environmental reporting (CERS/HMBPs, SMARTS, eVQ, DTSC), air permitting for businesses (e.g., BAAQMD emergency generator requirements) and general familiarity with health and safety, including HASP documents, SOPs, JHAs, health and safety programs, lab safety, and Cal/OSHA requirements. An ideal candidate is highly organized, comfortable and effective communicator, worked in medium to large organization, and has project management experience. Technical experience not required but welcomed. Familiarity with ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, and/or 45001 preferred but not required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • This position assists staff in various US states and Canada provinces with regulatory compliance.

  • Ability to manage and support special projects across North America involving ERM staff, Facility Management, EHS, and others as needed.

  • This role works with the client directly, allowing the opportunity to strengthen business relationships.

  • Position regularly communicates with staff in various time zones outside California.

  • This position requires working in a fast-paced support role where quality work is expected continuously. 

  • Position is currently remote support but expected to return to office post-COVID-19 pandemic. 

  • Ensure the safety of oneself and one’s team members during project operations with SAFETY FIRST.

  • Support ERM's "Zero Accident" health and safety programs.

  • Work with staff in the proper planning and execution of field work.

  • Collaborate with other ERM practitioners to support environmental, safety, and health projects.

REQUIREMENTS:


  • BS in chemical, environmental, or related science or relevant work experience

  • 2 – 5 years of government or industry experience 

  • Demonstrated understanding of regulatory compliance and reporting processes.

  • Strong hands-on spreadsheet and database comprehension. 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Good driving record.

  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting strict deadlines, and traveling to client facilities in San Jose area as needed.
