Role and Responsibilities

Summary

Designs; develops; and implements testing methods and equipment. Plans and arranges the labor; schedules; and equipment required for testing and evaluating standard and special devices. Provides test area with parameters for sample testing and specifies tests to be performed. Compiles data and defines changes required in testing equipment; testing procedures; manufacturing processes; or new testing requirements. Responsible for testing all customer samples and for special tests that cannot be performed in the test area. The Test Engineer is responsible for component and system test and repair of electrical and mechanical systems.

• Compile data and define changes required in testing equipment, testing procedures, manufacturing processes, or new testing requirements


• Evaluate, recommend, and justify technical approaches or solutions to projects and departmental procedures


• Conduct a variety of non-routine and non-repetitive operations for installation of electronic and mechanical assemblies


• Troubleshoot and perform maintenance procedures for reconfigurable simulators


• Provide inputs to technical documents


• Work in an integrated product team environment


• Develop and document test methodologies and procedures


• Work with hand tools

Qualifications and Education Requirements

• Clearance required


• Travel 50%


• Able to read schematics, drawings, and follow modification instructions


• Able to use various test equipment (multimeter, theodolite, oscilloscope, etc.)


• Able to use hand tools (screwdrivers, pliers, crimpers, etc.)

Preferred Skills

• Bachelor's degree in any hard science or Mechanical/Electrical Engineering


• 1 to 2 years' experience in flight simulation or a similar field


• Avionic systems troubleshooting/repair


• Diagnosing and troubleshooting network systems and/or computer networking


• Individual must be able to troubleshoot at a systems level


• Comfortable working with Windows and Lennox based computer systems

Security Responsibilities

Must complywith all company security and data protection / usage policies and procedures. Personally responsible for proper marking and handling of all information and materials, in any form. Shall not divulge any information, or afford access, to other employees not having a need-to-know. Shall not divulge information outside company without management approval. All government and proprietary information will be accessed and stored electronically on company provided resources.

• Incumbent must be eligible for DoD Personal Security Clearance.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office and engineering lab environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers. This role also works with various aircraft simulator equipment (avionic cockpits, visual systems, electronic cabinets).

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

• Must be able to lift 25lbs


• Must be able to use ladders


• Must be able to use precision hand tools


• Must be able to see colors


• Must be able to discern various aircraft aural cues
