Shift Supervisor at Castleton Commodities International LLC in Newburgh, New York

Job Description:

CCI, on behalf of Roseton Generating LLC, is hiring a Shift Supervisor in Newburgh, NY. This position will provide supervision, mentoring, coaching and general direction to the operating staff in a safe and efficient manner consistent with company policies, procedures and the station operating manual and technical specifications. This is a rotating shift position.

Responsibilities:
- Provide supervision, mentoring, coaching and general direction to the operating staff in a safe and efficient manner consistent with company policies, procedures and the station operating manual and technical specifications
- Perform shift required employee relations functions in regard to employee
development, contract interpretation and compliance, recognition and discipline when required.
- Conduct semi-annual, annual and on-going performance evaluation and assessments.
- Determine daily and overtime manpower requirements necessary to maintain optimum plant performance, maintain employee absence and safety records.
- Supervise the start-up, operations and shutdown of plant equipment in accordance with plant operation instructions and procedures.
- Monitor shift operations by review of operating data, PI system, checklist, logs and other appropriate records. Identify equipment problems and their causes.
- Ensure that the plant is running within design limits; in compliance with
applicable safety and environmental regulation, satisfy dispatch requirement as prescribed in approved operating plan.
- Supervise the completion of routine maintenance and inspections.
- Coordinate equipment outages for maintenance activities.
- Ensure that hazardous materials and wastes are handled in a safe and environmentally acceptable manner.
- Report plant upset conditions or other anomalies in plant status to management.
- Coordinate and supervise the use and effectiveness of the plant Lock-out/Tag-out system.
- Assist in the training of new operators, with respect to proper equipment operations and safety.
- Conduct shift training and safety meetings.
- Performs other related duties as directed.

Qualifications:
- 10-15 years of experience and high school degree or equivalent.

- Requires a thorough knowledge of plant operations including start-up and shutdown procedures, emergency response procedures, equipment monitoring, lock-out/tag-out procedures, and environmental and safety requirements.

- Basic computer skills and Drivers License required.

- Potential work in high heat/cold atmosphere, ability to climb stairs/ ladders.

Work Environment:

- Work is performed in an industrial site requiring protective clothing and equipment.

- This position is exposed to extreme hot and cold environments, loud noise and moving equipment on a regular basis.

- Shift Supervisor will be assigned to a rotating shift with weekend and holiday work as required by schedule, work load and plant conditions.

- "On call" status will periodically be required.
