The Marketing Communications Manager will lead the development, implementation, and execution of a multi-channel communications strategy and marketing campaigns on a global basis for the Spine business unit. This individual will serve as a strategic partner to the business unit's Product and Commercial teams in guiding message development and promotional efforts targeted to healthcare professionals, patients, investors, sales force and employees.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities


  • Develops and maintains moderate to high level of product knowledge for assigned product segments in order to communicate product details and value effectively for external audiences.

  • Develops messaging and content while actively participating in the generation of marketing collateral to support all phases of the product and/or product segment life cycle.

  • May lead cross-functional teams and/or allocate necessary work to complete projects on time and in budget. · Responsible for providing the business a wholesome communications strategy for responsible business segment that includes tactics, channels and budget for all appropriate audiences.

  • This includes consulting and partnering with team members from the larger communications organization as needed.

  • Monitors competitive factors in order to capitalize upon market opportunities, minimize the effects of competitive activity and deliver effective messaging within the marketplace.

  • Responsible for leading development, and ensuring consistency of, brand-level marketing communication strategies across assigned product segments in support of overriding business unit strategy.

  • Conducts voice of customer calls/meetings with appropriate stakeholders to gain inputs necessary to lead communications strategy development.

  • Leads creative briefing sessions, material development and overall promotional presence for assigned business unit.

  • Ensures all projects completed for assigned product segment(s) stay on time and within budget.

  • Serves as Marketing Communications lead throughout NPI (New Product Introduction) process for assigned · products.

  • Acts as central contact for cross-functional organization of marketing materials, literature catalogs, meeting planning and support among assigned product segment(s).

  • Serves as Global Communications partner to regional marketing and marketing communications departments ensuring alignment of brand activities, identifying opportunities to leverage promotional activities multinational, and provide approval of regional promotional product campaigns and activities when necessary.

Expected Areas of Competence


  • Ability to communicate both orally and in written form with a clear and concise manner.

  • Strong promotional copywriting experience. · Excellent organization skills and the ability to deal independently with many issues at one time and prioritize accordingly.

  • Ability to work with cross-functional/multi-disciplined teams including but not limited to: Product Management, Commercialization, Sales Administration, Market Communications, and Sales force representatives. · Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe & other PC based systems, as well as Internet Explorer

  • General knowledge of medical device business including the science, products (Zimmer Biomet and competitors), research and commercialization process, manufacturing, marketing, and sales.

  • Knowledge of advertising and promotional regulations as it relates to the medical device industry.

  • Demonstrated ability to work creatively and successfully in a heavily regulated industry.

  • Knowledge of medical device market, products within assigned group, surgical process, selling process, regulatory process, development process, and marketing strategies.

Education/Experience Requirements


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Journalism, Communications or other related field.

  • 6+ years of experience in marketing, corporate communications, or medical device product management.

  • Agency experience preferred by not required.

Travel Requirements


  • Up to 30%

Compensation Range: $96,669-$130,787
