Job Description:

The Prep Cook performs all necessary duties to uphold the community’s standards of quality and excellence in food, service, hospitality, and friendliness. The position is responsible for preparing well-presented meals in timely fashion according to the scheduled menu and/or resident requests.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Performs all aspects of meal preparation, cooking and presentation as assigned.

• Completes prep work as required for future meals.

• Assists in the completion of the order sheets to maintain the appropriate level of supplies and inventory.

• Maintains refrigerator and freezer in an organized manner and as required by the health department.

• Assists in the storage of stock items that have been delivered.

• Maintains a clean and safe workspace and work environment. Sweeps and mops kitchen area as assigned.

• Assists wait staff and resident’s assistants when required and needed.

• Prepares and handles food according to all regulations that affect the operations.

• Knows and uses Universal Precautions and Personal Protective Equipment provided according to requirements established by OSHA.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION:

• One year of experience in the industry or a related field.

• Working knowledge of the industry.

• Excellent verbal and listening skills.

• The ability to multi-task effectively.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• The position is required to regularly sit for long periods of time, walk, stand, and communicate with residents, staff, family members and the public.
