Job description

The Credit & Collections Manager Carriers will serve as the primary contact for the credit and collections functions. The Credit & Collections Manager Carriers will be responsible for the management of credit and collection efforts by providing information to senior management, resolving complex problems and inquiries, and training and coaching staff. This position will oversee all facets of the department. Supervise daily activities of all Collections Supervisors and provides daily feedback and mentoring as required. Ensures team is on track with workload and resolves issues as presented by team. Monitors Collector's daily workload to ensure accounts are worked appropriately.

Job Responsibilities


  • Provides timely, relevant, and accurate reporting and analysis including, but not limited to past due accounts, Accounts Receivable Aging trends, DSO, and bad debt analysis.

  • Management of all processes related and associated with collection activities of the team, including but not limited to ensuring consistent and timely follow up, setting and adherence to standards of good collection practices.

  • Provide coaching and training, to team members to ensure timely resolution of collectability concerns

  • Provide analysis and feedback to Director explaining variances in cash trends by payer as business requires

  • Collection calls/emails to customers; Identification and resolution of issues

  • Analyze customer invoices according to the contract

  • Ability to utilize Salesforce CRM (Customer Relationship Management) tool

  • Actively participate in the hiring, training and mentoring of staff, while creating a team approach to workflow requirements. Ensuring a cohesive and cross-trained culture that can adapt to increased business demands.

  • Review policies and procedures on a consistent and ongoing basis, making recommendations for changes

  • Make suggestions for and implement process improvement to maximize efficiency within the collection team and throughout the organization as it pertains to area of responsibility.

  • Prepares performance appraisals and provide feedback and recommendations to the Director

  • Gather credit and/or collections reference information

  • Credit Analysis for new and existing accounts

  • Complete ad hoc projects as assigned by Director

  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related deliverables as needed

  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities under tight deadlines




Qualifications

Job knowledge


  • Must have strong general knowledge of billing and collections process cycles

  • Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to articulate challenges and professionally present actions and solutions, along with excellent customer service skills

  • Must be a resourceful, proactive problem solver.

  • Have the ability to work well under pressure while maintaining a professional and positive demeanor and continually multi-task to meet deadlines.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively lead and motivate a team

  • Ability to work effectively in a matrix organization

  • Able to handle confidential information and exercise good judgment

  • Strong negotiation skills

  • 5 plus years in a Manager Carriers role managing a team

  • Requires a 4-year college degree, preferably in Accounting, Business or equivalent experience.

  • Experience billing of customer sales and disconnects required

  • Experience with data entry and process-oriented function

  • Experience in a multi-functional role and using multi-company accounting software package

  • 10 plus years of experience in an Accounting/Finance environment
