ACADEMIC COUNSELOR FOR HEALTH CAREERS at University of Oklahoma in Norman, Oklahoma

Job Description:

Academic Counselor- Health Careers Counsels and advises students and prospective students, responds to student and parent inquiries, provides general information about academic issues, assists with student records maintenance, organizes the letter of evaluation process, and other duties as assigned.

Required Education: Bachelor Degree or equivalent combination of education/job related experience, AND:

• 18-36 months experience in academic advising or student services

Skills:

• Ability to speak, read and write clear, concise English


• Proficient in Microsoft Office


• Able to communicate well and build rapport quickly with students, faculty and staff


• General office skills such as multi-line phone, copying, filing, faxing, and mail


• Customer service

Certifications:

• None

Advertised Physical Requirements:

• Ability to communicate, see including color, depth perception and clarity, and hear in order to exchange information; ability to engage in repetitive motions including movements of the hands, wrists or fingers; ability to grasp, including applying pressure to objects with fingers or hands.

Departmental Preferences:

• Health-related field exposure


• Familiar with OU systems


• Familiarity with Laserfiche,


• Interviewing skills


• Excellent letter writing skills

Supervision: No Supervisory Duties
