The Risk Analyst uses judgment to develop analytically based recommendations from complex data sets and statistical models. These results are used to consult to both internal and external clients on many facets of their safety and insurance program, including program analysis and design, financial projections and other specific technical areas.
Core Responsibilities & Duties:
Forecast costs including loss projections and stratification
Perform collateral analysis, captive feasibility studies, and other analyses as requested
Possess ability to compile, analyze, present, and interpret complex financial and statistical information to facilitate decision making
Prepare appropriate spreadsheets, graphs, charts, diagrams, and other illustrative tools used in presentations to communicate complex financial and actuarial concepts to clients and internal associates with varying degrees of financial acumen
Assist in the review of insurance and risk management programs for effectiveness of coverage and to reduce insurance costs and losses
Collaborate with finance and actuaries to provide operational risk perspective related to the definition, prioritization, and execution of various initiatives
Support risk management and safety leaders through identification, root cause analysis, trending analysis and action plan status and reporting
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in in math, economics, risk finance and/or finance required
Working towards the completion of CPCU, ARM, actuarial or other comparable insurance education preferred
Strong mathematical acumen and aptitude
Basic understanding of financial statements
1-2 years of analytical experience strongly preferred
Strong communication skills
Understanding of the principles of commercial property/casualty insurance preferred
Prior experience working with or at least a general knowledge of statistical software packages preferred (SPSS, SAS, Minitab, etc.)
Proficiency with Microsoft Office
