GPS Manufacturer/Distributor

The Marine Cloud team is seeking a full-time Software Automation Quality Engineer 2 (also known as Software Developer in Test) for our headquarters in the greater Kansas City area. In this role, you will help ensure that new features are working properly before being released, ensuring a positive experience for our Marine customers when they visit our website or use our APIs.

Essential Functions


  • Develops and maintains scripts using Postman, Java and Javascript

  • Develops and maintains one or more automation frameworks

  • Displays initiative and communicates possible issues/risks that could occur with software deployment

  • Ensure quality and compliance with stated requirements, perform manual and automated testing in accordance with the Garmin Marine Cloud's established testing protocols

  • Utilizes software engineering tools such as configuration management systems, build processes, and debuggers in the software development process

  • Provides reliable solutions to a variety of problems using sound problem solving techniques

  • Performs technical root cause analysis and outlines corrective action for given problems

Basic Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s Degree OR Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Math, Physics or related field AND a minimum of 1 year relevant experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)

  • Must demonstrate proficiency and possess experience necessary to develop moderately complex software in Java and Javascript

  • Experience testing REST APIs and websites

  • Experience utilizing Postman, Java and Javascript

  • Proficient knowledge, utilization and mastery of relevant software engineering tools (configuration management systems, build processes, debuggers, emulators, simulators and logic analyzers)

Desired Qualifications


  • Experience working with other test automation tools (Cypress, Selenium, webriverIO, REST-assured, etc)
