Job Description:

The Clay Center for Young Healthy Minds at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) is an online center that aims to educate, inform, and guide parents and other caregivers about issues related to the mental health and well-being of children, adolescents, and young adults who struggle with behavioral, emotional, and/or learning challenges. In pursuit of this mission, the Clay Center uses innovative digital technologies such as blogs, podcasts, videos, and film to deliver content on a range of topics that refresh regularly to respond to current events and audience feedback. The breadth of content in its educational library spans psychiatric disorders, general pediatric concerns, and learning differences, with areas of focus including resilience, stigma, healthy development, and learning disability assessment, to name a few. While largely web-based, other activities of the Clay Center include media interviews, lectures and workshops for students, parents, teachers, and allied health professionals, as well as consultations to community, state, and national organizations.


The Communications Coordinator will be responsible for assisting the Center in delivering its program in support of families, including the marketing and optimization of all content for a lay audience, as part of the Clay Center's overall multi-faceted educational programming. The Coordinator will support and assist in execution of all communications and media relations, and tasks related to both.


The Coordinator must be able to work as a member of a small team as well as independently on a variety of projects. The position requires professional skills including strong writing and editing, social media capability, relationship skills, problem solving, and commitment to working in support of the team's mission and goals.


The Communications Coordinator will work closely with and report to the Communications Director and the Managing Director.


PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


Relevant activities include, but are not limited to the following:


The Communications Coordinator will contribute to implementation of the strategy for production of new content (including blog posts, podcast episodes, short films, webinars, and short videos) for the Clay Center website. This includes regular interactions with vendors who support production.


The Communications Coordinator will assist in tasks related to maintaining the Clay Center website, copyediting and posting of new materials, reviewing for topic specific content and other tasks.


The Communications Coordinator will create, review and edit social media content in support of increased web traffic, and handle scheduling for postings.


The Communications Coordinator will monitor and respond to inquiries and requests to the Clay Center's mailboxes.


The Communications Coordinator will participate in implementing marketing and PR campaigns across digital platforms, including evaluating campaign success.


The Communications Coordinator will assist with specific projects and activities as assigned, including advisory council meetings, fundraising events and speaking engagements in the community.


The Communications Coordinator will also be responsible for supporting the team in the office with a variety of administrative duties including answering written and phone inquiries, helping with presentations, copying, scheduling and logistics.



Qualifications

Strong writing, organizational and problem-solving skills required. The ability to meet deadlines and handle several projects simultaneously is a must.


Ability to think creatively, both in terms of problem-solving and program planning/execution.


Ability to respond to feedback and apply it across projects.


Ability to handle sensitive/confidential information.


Excellent computer, web and social media skills.


Bachelor's degree required; One year of related experience required
