EQUITY COMPLIANCE INVESTIGATOR at University of Oklahoma in Norman, Oklahoma

Job Description:

As a member of the University's Institutional Equity and Equal Opportunity Office, the Compliance Investigator supports the University's federal and state equal opportunity and Title IX compliance obligations by conducting prompt and thorough Equal Opportunity and Title IX investigations into complaints of discrimination, harassment, sexual misconduct, and retaliation.  This position is responsible for conducting investigations by promptly responding to formal complaints, preparing an investigative plan and timeline, identifying and interviewing witnesses, and gathering and securing relevant evidence. The Equity Compliance Investigator acts as an impartial party in the investigation and prepares a detailed report of the findings which is provided to the University Institutional Equity Officer and Title IX Coordinator.  Investigators may be requested to help with training, programming, and other duties as assigned.

Required Education: Bachelors degree in related field AND: 


  • 24 months of demonstrated experience conducting audits/investigations, complaint and grievance resolution, OR

  • Masters degree with 12 months of EO, Title IX, or HR experience.

Skills:


  • Proficient in Microsoft Office

  • Must be able to read and interpret policy as well as State and Federal regulations

  • Must be able to create and deliver effective training presentations

  • Composition and proofreading skills

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

Certifications:


  • Valid driver's license

Advertised Physical Requirements:


  • Engage in repetitive motions; communicate, including expressing oneself or exchanging information with others. Frequent exposure to pressure caused by deadlines and busy periods.

Departmental Preferences:


  • Advanced Degree (Masters or J.D.)

  • Two or more years experience investigating discrimination and harassment complaints

  • Experience in higher education, compliance, student affairs, or employment law

  • Training preferred:  Association of Workplace Investigators certfication, NACUA Title IX training, or ATIXA training

Supervision: No Supervisory Duties
