Position Title:

Application Development Intern - Customs



Position Summary:

This intern will work closely and partner with ADE's. This position will be doing system work (Possible updates to SOP's in lab), along with lab type work and testing for projects that are assigned. These projects will be helping ADE's, Sales and Marketing to provide technical data to end-users for silicone elastomer applications including Liquid Silicone Rubber (LSR) and High Consistency Custom Compounds. He/she will support ADE's to supply customers in data reporting along with sampling lab scale materials. They will also have the possibility to work with our QC and Operations teams (Process Engineers).



Job Description:

Responsibilities:


  • Partnership with ADE's to support with Lab work.


  • Test and assess existing materials to verify quality claims, and work with appropriate teams to help with solving.


  • Lab scale mixing, milling and extruding of silicone compounds for proof of concept.


  • Data research and reporting out to ADE's and sometimes customers.


  • Help with translating work for customer's requirements into material specifications to support team for new product development.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, bend, stoop, crouch,twist, turn, lift. and move about the facility. Walking, walking on irregular surfaces and balancing will be required. Reaching, feeling, finger movement, grasping, hearing, sight and the ability to speak clearly will be required. Regularly, lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling up to 50 lbs. Ability to wear personal protective equipment; ability to pass a fit-test and wear a respirator is required for most positions.

Additional Details:

Minimum Qualifications:


  • Pursuing a Bachelors of Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field


  • Strong communication skills with local (site) teams and manager


  • Bring to closure assigned projects and communicate clearly the findings using appropriate tools


  • Experience with Design of Experiment (DOE) analysis using Excel, Minitab, or other data analysis tools


  • Compliance with EHS policies and standards


  • Minimum GPA 3.0


  • The candidate must be actively enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program at the time of application
