Arcosa Traffic Structures is looking for a Steel and MRO Buyer. In this role the you will perform supply chain and logistics functions, which may include, but are not limited to, material procurement, MRO procurement, inventory control, outsourcing, vendor selection and distribution. 


You will also be responsible for establishing key performance metrics and benchmarks relating to supply chain planning/forecasting to measure actual performance against goals and promotes alignment by understanding and communicating customer needs and requirements throughout the organization. 


Location: Sumterville, FL


 What you'll do:



  • Perform supply chain and logistics functions, which may include, but are not limited to, material an MRO procurement, inventory control, outsourcing, vendor selection and distribution.

  • Control the monthly checkbook for MRO spending in conjunction with the Accounting Department.

  • Compile data on order volume, forecasts and apply statistical methods to estimate future material requirements.

  • Negotiate favorable terms, volume discounts and long-term contracts with suppliers.

  • Correct and research variances for AP items on-hold (PO vs. quantity received vs. Invoice)

  • Plan, schedule and monitor inbound movement of materials from suppliers

  • Coordinate information and activities with other team members

  • May coordinate or exchange information with third parties, vendors, or customers 

  • Manage Purchase Credit Card and turn reports in monthly

  • Able to handle high stress and fast turnaround PO’s

  • Purchasing of Steel Plate, Large and Small Diameter Steel Pipe, Steel Angle, Aluminum material and Processed Steel Plates. 

What you'll need:



  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Above average written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work with many levels within the organization

  • 5-7 years of manufacturing experience preferred

  • 3-5 years of procurement of Steel Purchasing items

  • APICS Certification preferred but not required

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred work experience listed above

Working Conditions:



  • Hourly full-time position

  • Safety sensitive role – Activities include:

  • Be aware of and observe all safety practices.

  • Know and follow all safety rules and procedures.

  • Participate in safety committees and initiatives as assigned.

  • Work environment includes plant, warehouse, production and non-production areas and plant grounds.

  • This position may require work/maintenance coverage beyond the normal hours, shift, and on weekends/holidays

  • Ability to tolerate both high and low temperatures, loud noises typical of a manufacturing plant.
