Lexicon Pharmaceuticals is currently recruiting for a detailed oriented Staff Accountant reporting in The Woodlands, Texas.

Job Summary:

The Staff Accountant is an essential member of the accounting team. Primarily responsible for the performance of general accounting duties in accordance with GAAP.

Key Responsibilities include, but will not be limited to:

• Accounting Close - Prepare monthly journal entries accurately and timely. Prepare schedules and gather audit documentation, as needed for external audit. Prepare and/or gather support documentation for SOX audit.

• Daily Cash - Track daily cash and record necessary journal entries.

• Account reconciliations - Prepare account reconciliations for general ledger accounts monthly. Prepare entries, as necessary.

• Electronic binders - Monthly, ensure that all required documents and evidence of review are electronically filed on a timely basis. Obtain final review and sign-off from Controller and Associate Director of Accounting.

• SEC disclosure support - Prepare investment disclosure and accurately review investment trade confirmations to ensure agreement to the electronic statement.

• Close calendar - Prepare, manage and update close calendar monthly.

• Analysis - Analyze account activity at direction of Controller or Associate Director of Accounting.

• Special projects - Work on special projects for Controller or Associate Director of Accounting.

Required Experience

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or related major


• JDE or other large accounting system
