Pacific Life is investing in bright, agile and diverse talent to contribute to our mission of innovating our business and creating a superior customer experience. We're actively seeking a talented Real Estate Portfolio Manager to join our Portfolio/Asset Management team in Newport Beach, CA.

As a Real Estate Portfolio Manager, you'll play a key role in Pacific Life's growth and long-term success by leading a team that is responsible for the analysis, recommendation, negotiation and management of commercial real estate investment transactions for our third party mortgage loan portfolio. You will fill an existing role that sits on a team of approximately 15 people in the Investment division. Your colleagues will include fellow real estate commercial loan servicing and portfolio management professionals.

How you will make an impact:


  • Oversee and provide guidance to team members responsible for analyzing, negotiating and approving investment transactions (ownership restructures, property management changes, easements, payoffs, etc.).

  • Ensure compliance of obligations under pooling and servicing agreements.

  • Collaborate with other areas of the department.

  • Oversee completion of required reporting and monthly remittances.

  • Special servicing - handle all aspects concerning loan defaults, workouts, deal restructures, note sales and foreclosures.

The experience you will bring:


  • College degree (BA/BS) with emphasis in Finance, Accounting, or Economics (Master's degree - Real Estate or MBA - strongly preferred).

  • Working experience with servicing commercial mortgage backed securities required.

  • Working experience in evaluation and underwriting of investment risks associated with commercial real estate is required.

  • Experience managing and mentoring staff.

  • Proficiency in software applications for real estate investment analysis including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, Argus, and the ability to quickly learn new program applications.

  • Exceptional math and analytical skills.

  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills.

  • Expertise in the drafting and use of financial formulas in complex financial spreadsheets, as well as the use of a financial calculator.

  • Strong experience and aptitude for reviewing and interpreting complex loan documents and servicing agreements.
