OVERVIEW

CHA Consulting, Inc. is currently seeking an Aviation Civil Engineer to join our Infrastructure - Aviation Design group Cleveland, OH.

For more than half a century, CHA has provided planning, design, construction, and asset management services to the nation's top airports. Through this work on countless aviation projects totaling hundreds of millions of dollars, our dedicated aviation professionals have built strong working relationships with the FAA and state transportation offices. We have an in-depth understanding of state and federal regulations, as well as the technical requirements and challenges faced by modern airports.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

This position will work with CHA's Aviation Design Team and will be responsible for aviation projects from inception to completion at a variety of airports ranging in size from general aviation facilities to large-hub commercial service airports.

Some of the expected duties will include airfield and non-airfield pavements, site grading/drainage and erosion control, storm water and utilities, development of reports, permits, and specifications, site/field visits, construction administration, long-term and short-term planning of airfield and non-airfield infrastructure, and other duties as assigned to include, but not limited to:

    Serve as a technical engineer on a variety of aviation development projects, assisting section managers and designers/engineers with technical design development and execution
  • Assist design team with production of high-quality exhibits, construction plans, construction specifications, permits, and reports to effectively communicate the design to clients, agency representatives, and construction contractors

  • Assist with administration of construction services including such tasks as shop drawing review, responding to contractor requests for information, cost proposal development and evaluation, and other construction-related duties

  • Contribute significantly to the overall success of the team and team's projects

The candidate will work with a team of designers, engineers, planners, and technicians primarily located in the Cleveland, OH office with opportunities to support other aviation teams throughout CHA's national network of offices.

EDUCATION AND LICENSURE


  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering is required

  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification required

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS


  • Minimum of 3 years of related engineering experience is required

  • Demonstrates a strong working knowledge of the respective engineering field as well as proven ability to practically apply it in a professional environment

  • Proficient in engineering, computational, and modeling software including Revit, AutoCAD, MicroStation, etc.

  • Understands QA/QC procedures

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to adapt communication style to suit various audiences

  • Desire to work in a collaborative team environment with the willingness to assist more senior staff

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software required

  • Participation in a professional engineering society/organization is preferred
