I. Job Purpose and Core Tasks



The Manager, Logistics and Distribution leads a team responsible for the movement of goods from supplier or production ultimately to the customer encompassing packaging, inventory, warehousing, supply chain support, and logistics (inbound and outbound) processes. Through strategic planning and leadership, this position will optimize all logistics, transportation and distribution functions to drive KSEA-OR1 cost reductions and enhanced customer experience.


This position collaborates closely with Production, Incoming Inspection, Logistics Center, Global Supply Chain, Continuous Improvement and Project Success to guarantee and continually optimize KSEA-OR1 product availability to Product Deployment and Performance Support teams. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential to support clear cross-functional communication and effective change management to eliminate waste and improve operation effectiveness and efficiencies.


The manager is responsible for daily issue mitigation, staff development, training and skill enhancement while clearly communicating targets, performance expectations and supporting the success of each individual. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:



Logistics Support:



  • Daily oversight and training of team, developing and documenting procedures that best support KSEA-OR1 goals and objectives in alignment with global harmonized quality systems for KARL STORZ.

  • Stockroom inventory accuracy and backorder prevention, release materials to production and service in a lean warehouse environment utilizing FIFO best practices.

  • Ensures accuracy of all inventory transactions. Leads coordination of annual physical inventory.

  • Develops new strategies to streamline processes and reduce cost.

  • Ensures that quality, quantity, customer satisfaction, and financial commitments are met.

  • Develops and trends Key Logistics Performance Indicators regularly and on-time to identify issues and opportunities for process improvements.

  • Responsible for accuracy and timeliness of all shipments.

  • Coordinates all team activities and drives execution.



Risk Mitigations and Personnel Support:



  • Identifies training needs; ensures on-time completion of trainings. Determines its effectiveness through testing and/or demonstrated hands-on work.



  • Develops and fosters a mindset that focuses on continuous improvement activities, root cause investigation and countermeasure development. Leads the implementation and continuous improvement of safety processes, ensuring policy compliance and documentation of non-conformances.

  • Ensures all tools and equipment used in Receiving / Shipping / Material Storage areas meet safety standards and are maintained accordingly.

  • Supports an open environment for cost reduction opportunities within area.

  • Support the development and implementation of development and cross training plans.

  • Responsible for performance management, talent management and succession planning, ensuring that the appropriate tools and processes are in place to support the team.

  • May be responsible for significant dotted-line employee reporting relationships.

  • Applies broad and deep subject matter expertise to solve a variety of highly complex business issues.

  • Will spend part of his/her time as a member of continuous improvement teams undertaking projects and seeking ways to improve the quality of KSEA-OR1 products and services.

  • Participation as a member of continuous improvement teams, seeking ways to improve the quality of the assembly and distribution functions.



II. Minimum Knowledge, Education and Skill Requirements



Required



Minimum years of relevant work experience:



  • 5 years in logistics/distribution role



Minimum education, certifications and/or credentials:



  • Bachelor's Degree in relevant field

  • Knowledge of Quality Systems



Minimum hard skill requirements (including computer and application proficiency):



  • SAP system experience

  • Strong proficiency with MS Office.



Minimum soft skill requirements:



  • Ability to prioritize and control workflow

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and work in a teaming environment to find an effective solution

  • Assist in the development and implementation of new processes and procedures

  • Ability to train to procedures and ensure continuous improvement

  • Ability to communicate product/project concerns/issues cross-functionally

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong customer service orientation

  • Strong attention to detail and adherence to SOPs

  • Models dependability and works well under pressure

  • Ability to maintain accurate and detailed documentation

  • Strong management and leadership skills

  • 10 years management experience



Preferred education, certifications and/or credentials:



  • Bachelor's Degree

  • ASCM based CLTD certification

  • SAP certification
