Job Summary:

Assists with the direction of comprehensive product strategies from product conception and definition through end of life. Assists with the creation, development and delivery of new software products and hardware within company product lines. Performs ongoing market research, reviews customer satisfaction, works with development teams and measures product success. Directs those involved in the design, modification and evaluation of all phases of a specific product or group of products. Formulates and executes long-term plans for cost/profit control. Promotes use of new technologies and industry-leading trends. Trains and develops internal team members to ensure the efficient operation of the function. This position typically works under limited supervision and direction. Incumbents of this position will regularly exercise discretionary and substantial decision-making authority.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Work closely with upper management and other product leaders to develop long term product development and sales strategies for the company.

  • Monitor and analyze market trends and competitors to make sure product lines stay competitive and fulfill customer needs.

  • Understand all aspects of customer's business needs and how they can apply to our company's product lines.

  • Key contributor in coordinating quote and proposal activities through business development and contracts to meet customer needs.

  • Generate business cases and acceptance requirements for product updates and product enhancements to meet market demands and new sales potentials.

  • Works with third parties to develop business strategies as well as teaming and license agreements.

  • Works closely with business development, corporate communications and product marketing team to ensure advertising and technical materials are current and available.

  • Ensures all agreed upon customer requirements and expectations are met by providing superior customer support and service.

  • Serves as expert with respect to the customer and competitive environment.

  • Responsible for developing consumer and channel communication strategies.

  • Support current and future product enhancements which may include RFP documentation, identifying and documenting product requirements and potential gaps, participate in the design discussions, provide technical guidance by answering traffic engineering and product related questions, attend the status meetings for projects and report on progress.

  • Responsible for managing product roadmaps across technical stakeholders for product releases and ensures timelines and commitments are met.

Minimum Job Requirements:

Four-year college degree, or equivalent, in product line, business or program leadership fields in Civil Engineering, software engineering, or business,; plus a minimum of six (6) years experience working as a software product owner. Preferably with experience in the connected vehicle, traffic, or mobility industries. Relevant experience from postgraduate research or educational institution may be accepted. Success in launching new products (SaaS, IoT, etc.) into the B2B and B2G markets. Excellent teamwork skills. Demonstrated experience in creating product specifications, gathering customer requirements, performing competitive analysis and/or market research technical documentation. . Able to make decisions independently and manage large teams. Excellent presentation, written and verbal communication skills.
